We cannot make a cow and a horse hybridize. And tthey are close enough genetically we can see analogs of the various peptide signaling compounds in them, like Growth Hormone, or Luteinizing Hormone. But those signaling compounds have diverged enough they don’t work well in a system they did not evolve in. So both humans and cows may have growth Hormone, And the genes, which work together as a total package in each animal, also are not working well when intermixed. Cow growth hormone does not activate the human growth hormone receptor, even though they are relatively similar in size and structure, and vice versa. Now if you have an organism which evolved from scratch on a completely different world, it probably will not even have corresponding analogues which maybe might weakly interact.
