It is interesting, in that again it is a black box algorithm which hands out these slots. People put their names in and they are told the algorithm picked them for this spot. It is reminiscent of Civil Service, especially Policing and the Fire Department. It used to be simple. People who wanted a civil service position took a Civil Service test, which usually featured math and english questions, and those who scored highest were offered the jobs first. Then the Justice Department sued, saying by testing intelligence they were discriminating against Blacks and Hispanics, and to settle the cases, jurisdictions had to agree to instead contract with a company which did “Psychological Testing.” The company claimed it needed to hide its methods, to prevent gaming of the tests, so it would ask random questions with no right or wrong answer, all the tests would get shipped to it, it would grade them in a black box, and then tell municipalities who to hire. The reality is the company was just a CIA front and now to get those Civil Service jobs, you had to be corrupted by the surveillance.
