One of the things going around Twitter is there is an increase in the sightings of “fireballs” in the sky, with no conclusive reason why this should be, as we are not in a meteor shower zone, or passing through the old tail of a comet. I hesitate to report on it, as the videos look like this and I could probably replicate that easily with a remote controlled plane and some sparklers, and people will do that for marketing campaigns. But we did have an interstellar object follow an unusual path through here a few months back, and some were speculating it could have dumped some probes, so we will put it here in light of that. Some have noted as well, they do not look like meteors.

Here we have fireball sightings over the USA summed by month via NASA data from 2018 to March 2026 (present). Currently we're 4.5 standard deviations above the average of ~2 fireball sightings per month for this timeframe. Keep in mind no big meteor streams…
