Android 15 released! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Kinda! ๐Ÿคจ

Google released Android 15 and made its source code available at AOSP today.

*BUT* Google didn't release the final Android 15 build to Pixels yet and plan to roll out the update "in the coming weeks".

However, this starts the race. Now Android 15 is "ready" and manufacturers can start building their own releases.

So it begins...! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

First phone models started receiving official, stable Android 15 update today.

Obviously, the first ones to get the update are supported Google Pixel phones.

Here's the list of phones that will get the update (and those that have gotten it already):

Samsung Galaxy A16, its 4G variant was released.

Well, actually, accidentally pushed to public by European e-commerce shop, but it is what it is.

So, cheap-y Samsung, 4G only:

- 4/8GB RAM
- 128/256GB storage
- 50MP main cam
- Helio G99

Ships with Android 14, but we don't know yet, whether this will get similarly massive update promise as its 5G sibling got.

OnePlus has shared its Android 15 beta rollout timeline.
Interestingly, OnePlus also confirmed for couple of older models that they will get Android 15, even though we were quite sure they wouldn't be getting the update.

We have now updated our OnePlus list to reflect the devices that should get the Android 15 update eventually.

Google announced that the current once-a-year Android launch schedule will change.

Android 16 will ship in Q2/2025, meaning that Android 16 is rolling out by end of June, 2025.

This is interesting, as the article points out: some manufacturers can't deliver Android updates by end of June even now, so how can (slowest) manufacturers keep up?
