Apple's claim that new European rules will make it cheaper to attack iPhones is a concern, as the changes to the App Store and iOS in the European Union (EU) could potentially introduce new vulnerabilities. The Digital Markets Act (DMA) requires Apple to allow users in the EU to download apps from stores not operated by Apple and to use alternative payment methods. While Apple is introducing safeguards to reduce these risks, such as notarisation for iOS apps and app installation sheets, there is still a possibility of increased security risks and vulnerability to hacking.

The DMA is designed to make the digital economy fairer by removing unfair advantages that tech giants hold over businesses and consumers. However, it also introduces changes that could potentially impact security and privacy.
