As a leader, the first person I need to lead is me. The first person that I should try to change is me. My standards of excellence should be higher for myself than those I set for others.

To remain a credible leader, you must always work first, hardest, and longest on changing yourself. It’s not easy, but it is essential!

A WISE MAN ONCE SAID

1. Don’t call someone more than twice continuously. If they don’t pick up your call, presume they have something important to attend to;

2. Return money that you have borrowed even before the person that borrowed you remember or ask for it. It shows your integrity and character. Same goes with umbrellas, pens and lunch boxes.

3. Never order the expensive dish on the menu when someone is giving you a lunch/dinner.

4. Don’t ask awkward questions like ‘Oh so you aren’t married yet?’ Or ‘Don’t you have kids’ or ‘Why didn’t you buy a house?’ Or why don't you buy a car? For God’s sake it isn’t your problem;

5. Always open the door for the person coming behind you. It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or a girl, senior or junior. You don’t grow small by treating someone well in public;

6. If you take a taxi with a friend and he/she pays now, try paying next time;

7. Respect different shades of opinions. Remember what's 6 to you will appear 9 to someone facing you. Besides, second opinion is good for an alternative;

8. Never interrupt people talking. Allow them to pour it out. As they say, hear them all and filter them all;

9. If you tease someone, and they don’t seem to enjoy it, stop it and never do it again. It encourages one to do more and it shows how appreciative you're;

10. Say “thank you” when someone is helping you.

11. Praise publicly. Criticize privately;

12. There’s almost never a reason to comment on someone’s weight. Just say, “You look fantastic.” If they want to talk about losing weight, they will;

13. When someone shows you a photo on their phone, don’t swipe left or right. You never know what’s next;

14. If a colleague tells you they have a doctors' appointment, don’t ask what it’s for, just say "I hope you’re okay". Don’t put them in the uncomfortable position of having to tell you their personal illness. If they want you to know, they'll do so without your inquisitiveness;

15. Treat the cleaner with the same respect as the CEO. Nobody is impressed at how rude you can treat someone below you but people will notice if you treat them with respect;

16. If a person is speaking directly to you, staring at your phone is rude;

17. Never give advice until you’re asked;

18. When meeting someone after a long time, unless they want to talk about it, don’t ask them their age and salary;

19. Mind your business unless anything involves you directly - just stay out of it;

20. Remove your sunglasses if you are talking to anyone in the street. It is a sign of respect. Moreso, eye contact is as important as your speech.

21. Never talk about your riches in the midst of the poor. Similarly, don't talk about your children in the midst of the barren.

22.After reading a good message try to say "Thanks for the message".

APPRECIATION remains the easiest way of getting what you don't have....

You'll never get to where you want to go if you don't even know where you want to be.

Teach your children financial literacy by giving them money to help you pay bills like power, water, or medical bills. It will teach them to value money and understand that what they take for granted costs money. You will notice that they are more prudent with money. Then, go to the next step and teach them how to buy stocks, cryptos, ETFs, REITS, mutual funds, bonds precious metals, and life insurance via Robinhood, eTrade, TD Ameritrade, eToro, etc., thereby increasing their awareness of investing and planning for retirement. Once they know where to go to multiply their money, they will use it better. You will turn them from consumers hooked on spending to entrepreneurs addicted to earning. By the time their mates are looking for jobs, your children will be looking for employees. And when their peers spend salaries, they will be expending profits and dividends.

🌸If you must walk your path alone for a while, do it.

🌿Don't abandon yourself for the sake of someone else.

🌸You never have to fight or chase someone for their love and acceptance for you.

🌿Never settle for less than the life that you deeply desire for yourself.

🌸Leave them be, wish them well, and trust that “your people” will find you.

Why are celebrities and sports people becoming broke after retirement despite the millions they had earned and touched?

I asked my students this question yesterday, and the answers were interesting. The summary of their answers is that most of them have skills in the game or art, but can't think outside the field nor build skills in other areas of life or business.

Managing finance is a skillset but mostly overlooked. To sustain wealth goes beyond having the initial access. The critical part is surrounding yourself with people that can genuinely help to maintain the wealth, which should be on merit.

It’s okay to compensate a friend, acquaintance and or a family member with a job but when it comes to doing the actual job, you should go find the right people with the right skillsets.

Separate business and investment from friendship and family. When it comes to family and friends, help those you can, but when it comes to business, put those who have the skills and credibility to run the business. With this you can make rational decisions to remove them when they are not performing without being stuck in family or friendship sentiments.

If you waste opportunity, you won't taste success. And the most common opportunities that the majority of people will get are ideas. Unfortunately, most people waste their ideas by not writing them down. And ideas are spiritual. If you don't write them down, you lose them. So, whether you are in the shower or bath, cooking or making love with your spouse, as soon as you get an idea, stop whatever you are doing and write it down. Please don't say to yourself that you will remember it. You won't. A short pencil is ALWAYS longer than a long memory. 💡

• Resilience – Bouncing back from every setback.

• Focus – Eliminating distractions and staying on track.

• Self-belief – Knowing you can achieve it, even when others doubt.

• Action – Moving forward, no matter how small the step.
