The lobby of the main library is adorned with the statue of Demetrius of Valery, which is one of the most important sculptures inside the library, as its significance lies in the history of the carved figure and its important role in the ancient Library of Alexandria.Demetrius of Valery was an advisor to King Ptolemy I Soter, who advised him to establish an educational and research center in Alexandria, the Museion, with a huge library attached to it. There are conflicting opinions about whether Demetrius was the first director of the library, but what is certain is that he was responsible for bringing in the books that made up the collections of the ancient library.

The Cave of the Swimmers in Egypt is a mystery that baffled scientists. It's located in the Gilf al-Kabir plateau in the Western Desert in the New Valley Governorate, near the border with Libya. The cave was discovered in October 1933 by the Hungarian explorer Laszlo Almásy. The cave contains drawings of people swimming engraved on the rocks more than 10,000 years ago during the modern ice age.The drawings of the people in the Cave of the Swimmers were not similar to real people, but rather a reductionist method was used in their implementation in a single color, which is dark red. Thus, the artist reduced the rest of the colors, gradations, and any distinctions to resemble reality, but he painted all the people while they were swimming or diving in an abstract manner.Karen Kinderman said it was the most amazing cave.
