The Center for Conservation and Restoration of Antiquities at the NMEC has launched the Winter School for Training in Conservation and Restoration Sciences.

This comes within the framework of the museum's role as a cultural and educational institution.

24 trainees participated in the training, under the supervision of a number of experts specialising in the conservation and restoration of antiquities at regional and international levels.

Incense burners were used in the Islamic period in order to distribute the pleasant smell of incense so that tranquility prevailed in the place, and it became qualified for the performance of worship, as it was found in both mosques and homes.The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization displays an incense burner made of cast brass, decorated with silver and gold inlays, with Tripod-footed with perforated domed lid.

The tombs of Djehouty and Huri from the New Kingdom in Dra’ Abu El-Naga in Luxor, were opened after their restoration.

The two tombs were discovered during the work of the joint Egyptian-Spanish archaeological mission in 2003.

In 2002, the mission began excavation, restoration, documentation work at the site followed by publication of the research results related to the tombs in the area. The mission also succeeded in uncovering several tombs, coffins and mummies, as well as a funerary garden.

A new wave of art will be displayed during the 4th edition of Egypt’s first curated art fair “Art Cairo” from the 11th to the 14th of February at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt’s new cultural wonder. The exhibition will entail the works of artists from all over Egypt and the MENA region, gathering together for intellectual discourses, panel discussions, and engagement programs.
