The Egyptian archaeological mission working in the Gerza cemetery, in Fayoum, succeeded in uncovering a huge funerary building from the Greek and Roman periods, and a number of Fayoum portraits.

The mission also found a terracotta statue of the goddess Isis-Aphrodite, and demotic and Greek writings on papyrus that express the social, economic and religious realities of the region's inhabitants.

The Grand Egyptian Museum hosted its first group of students at the Children’s Museum.

The group was fascinated by everything the students saw at the museum; they learned about the ancient Egyptians in a fun and engaging way.

This is part of a series of trial operations to assess the visitor experience ahead of the opening.
