The king is wearing the White crown of Upper Egypt and holds a flail in his right hand and a long staff in his left.

The royal figure is standing on a pedestal which rests upon the back of a leopard. The leopard is covered in black resin with some gilded details.

Leopards would help guard the king in the afterlife, and the deceased are mentioned to have β€œleopard claws” in the Book of the Dead.

Upon the discovery of king Tutankhamun’s tomb, Howard Carter found almost 100 pieces of footwear belonging to the king.

The collection ranges from simple ones, made from papyrus, to elaborate ones, made from beads and gold sheets. The sandals were found in different locations within the tomb, some had been scattered within the tomb while others were placed in boxes.
