"For over twenty years, numerous mountaineers ascending Mount Everest have encountered "Green Boots," a deceased climber who lost his life near the summit in 1996.
Presently, the presence of Green Boots' body serves as a grim milestone for climbers, indicating their proximity to the summit.β
Despite ongoing uncertainty about Green Boots' identity, his remains are among several that tragically mark the route to the top of the world's highest and most perilous mountain.β "

Never lose faith in humanity..
In 2023, a Gelje Sherpa who was guiding a private client up Mount Everest found a man who was close to death by the summit. The Sherpa rolled the man into a sleeping mattress, gave him oxygen and then painstakingly trekked 6 hours down a perilous mountain, with the man strapped to his back.

Last night, @BrothersUncaged 'Goliath' bird-eating tarantula (biggest tarantula in the world) tried to force its way out of its enclosure. Needless to say, my anxiety levels have raised somewhat, especially since I've got to attend to the house for an evening. Wish me luck π·

This video from the early 20th century shows the jovial, silly behaviour of our predecessors who made the most of tough times. This wonderful, rare glimpse into the human nature of those who came before us is as touching as it is painful. Their like is seen no more.

Considering taking up private (historical) tours of #London and some of it's public houses. I wouldn't advertise much and most would take place through word of mouth but I'll make the public aware every now and then.

This FASCINATED me.
Meet the 'Gebelein Man', from the Predynastic period, around 3500 BC, who was found in #Gebelein, #Egypt & naturally mummified in the dessert sun/sands for 5000 years! Detail such as his hair had me entranced.
The man's death was caused by a stab wound to his shoulder, which would explain the position of his body. Autopsy deciphered he was a strong man who clearly died painfully. Sights like this are well worth the day out.
