GAZA'S DEADLY CYCLE: HOW MILITARY ACTIONS FEED THE CONFLICT THEY AIM TO END 🔄

#GazaCrisis #IsraelPalestine #HumanitarianCrisis #MiddleEast #CyclicalViolence #WarAndPeace

The Escalating Pattern 📈
The recent Israeli strike on Beit Lahia, marking the third such attack in just over a week, highlights a growing paradox in the military campaign. With at least 55 civilians killed according to the Palestinian Civil Defense, including 25 children, each strike potentially creates a new generation of resistance.

The Human Cost 💔
- Residential buildings targeted
- Civilian casualties mounting
- Critical infrastructure destroyed
- Humanitarian aid blocked
- 400,000 people trapped in deteriorating conditions

Military Strategy's Limitations ⚔️
Former Israeli military intelligence officer Michael Milshtein's assessment is telling: "It's unbelievable. When are we going to learn?" This candid admission from within Israel's security establishment underscores a fundamental flaw in the current approach.

The Humanitarian Crisis 🏥
The United Nations warns of catastrophic conditions and famine risk in northern Gaza. With UNRWA operations threatened by new Israeli legislation, the humanitarian situation faces further deterioration, potentially exacerbating the cycle of desperation and conflict.

The Regrowth Pattern 🌱
Despite Israel's military successes, including the decimation of Hamas battalions, the movement continues to regenerate. Analysts point to a critical factor: each military operation affecting civilians potentially creates new supporters among those who've lost homes, family members, and hope.

Breaking the Cycle ⛓️

Security experts increasingly recognize that military solutions alone cannot address what has become a self-perpetuating crisis. Each strike that impacts civilian areas risks creating more opposition than it eliminates.

The Political Dimension 🎯
With Israel rejecting international pleas to transfer power to alternative Palestinian leadership, and humanitarian conditions deteriorating, the current strategy appears to be strengthening rather than weakening resistance movements.

Food for Thought 🤔
1. Can military force alone ever resolve deeply rooted social conflicts?
2. How does humanitarian crisis affect conflict resolution?
3. What role does civilian suffering play in perpetuating resistance?
4. Is there a point where military success becomes counterproductive?
5. How might improving civilian conditions affect security?
6. Can breaking the cycle of violence begin with humanitarian action?
7. What lessons can be learned from similar conflicts worldwide?
8. How does youth trauma impact future conflict?

Key Facts 📊
- Third strike on Beit Lahia in just over a week
- At least 55 civilians killed in recent strike
- 25 children among the casualties
- 400,000 people trapped in northern Gaza
- UN warning of famine conditions
- UNRWA operations threatened by new legislation
- Tens of thousands killed since October 2023
- Critical humanitarian aid blocked
- Multiple residential areas targeted
- Growing civilian displacement

Think about it: In a region where each civilian casualty potentially creates multiple new opponents, can military force alone ever achieve lasting peace? 🕊 The answer may lie in breaking the cycle of violence rather than perpetuating it.

America Will Go to War With China. A Hell Script

🔤🔤🔤🔤1️⃣

Early one morning this month, 864 Army paratroopers bundled into C-17 transport planes at a base in Alaska and took off for a Great Power War exercise between three volcanic mountains on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Only 492 made it. Some of the C-17s had trouble with their doors, while others were forced to land early. A few of the parachutists who did make it sprained ankles or suffered head trauma. And one — a 19-year-old private — began to fall quickly when his chute did not open.

Across the field, shouts of “pull your reserve” could be heard before the young private hit the ground and medics ran to treat him. The horrifying scene and its aftermath encapsulate every jumper’s worst nightmare.

But Pvt. Second Class Erik Partida’s 1,200-foot fall was also a stark reality check as the U.S. Army transforms itself, and its hundreds of thousands of young men and women, for yet another war, this one a potential conflict with China.

The Pentagon calls it a Great Power War, and it would be exponentially more dangerous. It would put the world’s two strongest militaries — both of them nuclear superpowers — in direct conflict, possibly drawing in other nuclear adversaries, including North Korea and Russia. U.S. troops would be killed, in numbers that could possibly go beyond the toll from America’s deadliest conflicts.

Such a war would be fought on the ground, at sea, in the air and in space. So the Army is practicing for exactly that.

Forget the Marines, who can get anywhere quickly, because they travel light. Or the Navy, which practically lives in the Pacific. Those services, which featured heavily in the Pacific during World War II, have the planning for a conflict in Asia baked into their DNA.

But now, as the chances of war with China increase, the big and cumbersome Army is trying to transform itself after two decades of fighting terrorism in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Unlike the Taliban or other insurgents, China will have satellites that can see troop formations from the sky. The Army must, in essence, learn how to fly under the radar.

To stress-test the Army’s ability to deploy quickly and fight on Pacific island chains, soldiers with the 25th Infantry Division, along with Japanese, Australian, Indonesian and other partner troops, rappelled into jungle ravines and then made the humid climbs up, laden with gear.

Some 28 miles away at Pearl Harbor, Army transport ship crews ironed out various ways to discharge the military equipment and the troops they will need in the event of war in the Pacific.

And not far from the North Shore of Oahu, soldiers worked to disguise a multivehicle command and control unit, complete with big-screen computer stations, so that it was almost indistinguishable from the deep green forest.

Former President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have outlined vastly different approaches to Russia’s war in Ukraine. Their approaches to turmoil in the Middle East are also expected to be at least rhetorically different.

But no matter who wins in November, the United States will continue to prepare for war with China.

Beijing has made clear that it will seek to expand its power in Asia, from militarizing uninhabited rocks in the Pacific to claiming sovereignty over international waters. And all of that starts with Taiwan, which President Xi Jinping has ordered the Chinese military to be ready to invade by 2027.

While Taiwan has its own defenses, military experts say it is difficult to see how the island would repel a Chinese invasion without U.S. help. Such a move would be a decision for whoever is president at the time, but American policymakers worry that staying out of it may not be an option if the United States wants to maintain its dominance.

“My sense is that a successful Chinese invasion of Taiwan would send massive ripples throughout the region,”

said Seth Jones, a senior vice president with the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
“China would likely emerge as the dominant military power in the region, not the United States, and it would trigger a range of second- and third-order effect.

For instance, America’s Pacific allies could lose faith in U.S. deterrence and try to make security deals with China. Japan and South Korea — both treaty allies of the United States — could join the nuclear club as a way to defend themselves against China.

“Is it quite the fall of the Roman Empire?”

Mr. Jones said.
“I don’t know, but that’s the right kind of question to ask.”

During World War II, when the island was called Formosa and was occupied by Japan, the Joint Chiefs of Staff came up with Operation Causeway, an invasion plan that would give the United States a base closer to Japan from which to attack. Gen. Douglas MacArthur opposed invading Taiwan as too risky; it meant crossing a contested sea to fight on complex terrain against a well-defended army. Military planners said an amphibious assault on the island would have been far harder than the D-Day landings at Normandy.

“The first thing you have to do is you have to generate an invasion force, which would be a pretty large force, to go onto an island which has a prepared defense,”

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey A. VanAntwerp, the director of operations for the Army’s Pacific Command, said in an interview.
“There’s 100 miles of Taiwan Straits that you have to get across, and you’re doing that in large transport vessels that are very vulnerable during that crossing.”

China would most likely use light amphibious vessels to try to secure a beachhead in Taiwan, military planners say, but those vessels would have to plow through heavily mined waters. And while air assault forces would probably try to target infrastructure, in the end there is no viable way to seize an island as large as Taiwan, with its own defenses and 23 million people, without putting a force on the ground — troops who would have to come by sea.

“You can’t do it without pushing a large landing force across the straits on ships,”

General VanAntwerp said.
“There’s no other way.”

So China is working on it. Chinese military planners have repurposed civilian ferries to transport troops and equipment across the strait and are working to construct floating piers, American officials say.

Meet the Times journalists covering the election. Get a glimpse of the frenzied life of our politics editor, ride along with our reporters traveling the country with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and find out what our congressional reporter has learned in four decades on the job.

The Pentagon would not go into detail about how American trainers are helping Taiwan build defenses. But making clear to the Chinese that an amphibious assault would be fraught is part of the U.S. military’s deterrence planplan.

Army officials also say they hope joint exercises with Pacific partners will show Chinese military officials all the capabilities that the United States has and can bring to bear.

The officials point out that more than a quarter of the service’s 450,000 active-duty troops are already tasked to the Pacific. But they define that region liberally, to encompass troops not only in Japan, South Korea and the Philippines but also in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon and California. Taiwan is more than 6,000 miles from Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Wash., a separation the Army refers to as “the tyranny of distance.”

Docked in Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Army vessel Maj. Gen. Robert Smalls will be critical to getting all the apparatuses of the Army into the Pacific theater. The 300-foot-long ship, which recently arrived from Norfolk, Va., via the Panama Canal for the exercises, can beach itself, discharging 900 tons of vehicles and cargo — and, if necessary, troops — onto islands.

Capt. Ander Thompson, the commander of the Seventh Engineer Dive Detachment out of Pearl Harbor, was part of a detachment that spent several weeks this past summer with Filipino military divers clearing debris from a strategic port in the northern Philippine island of Batan, about 120 miles south of Taiwan.

The operation, which also deepened the harbor, will give Army and Navy ships better access to the port should conflict break out. Batan is near the Bashi Channel, a potential transit point for American forces headed to the Taiwan Strait.

The American Air Force cannot establish air superiority over the entire Pacific Ocean, but it can open up corridors, what the Army calls “interior lines” for unfettered movement, between, say, the Philippines and other islands. The United States has some troops already in place — about 54,000 in Japan, 25,000 in South Korea and a far smaller number in the Philippines.

The Hawaii exercises, which ended in mid-October, were devised to replicate the conditions that troops can expect in a war with China. Gone were the desert-sand-colored fatigues that became de rigueur during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The troops in Hawaii wore jungle fatigues and face paint.

Gone were the desert-sand-colored fatigues that became de rigueur during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. The troops in Hawaii wore jungle fatigues and face paint.

Troops worked on new maneuvers patched together from watching Ukraine fight Russia. They dismantled and moved large and cumbersome command and control operations in 20 to 30 minutes, and communicated with one another without using Army satellites, so that an adversary would not be able to pick up their conversations.

Learning how to advance in small teams that can attack and then dissipate into thin air was key. The Army sent to the troops 96 new rainforest-green infantry squad vehicles that can quickly move up to nine soldiers each through jungle terrain.

“It is so powerful to be able to send a company’s worth of personnel, which is about 130 people, on those vehicles, along multiple routes, and then at a point bring them together to attack the enemy, and then disappear in different directions,”

said Maj. Gen. Marcus Evans, the 25th Infantry Division’s commander.

The first of the 864 Army parachuters who took off from Alaska began appearing in the skies above the three volcanic mountains just after sunrise on Oct. 7.

From the ground, the sight could easily pass for an Army airborne commercial, as waves of jumpers shot out of the side of the C-17s and floated to earth, their chutes billowing. All of the soldiers were supposed to be equipped with two chutes, including a reserve if their primary chute did not deploy within four seconds after they jumped out of the plane.

Members of Private Partida’s unit got to him first. He was calm and conscious, but his spine was damaged. Captain Mullen arrived, panting from her seven-minute sprint. She and Maj. Mitch Marks, an Army physician assistant, propped up his neck and spine to make sure he did not suffer any additional damage.

“OK, so he was very talkative, and he was able to say that he didn’t have any pain,”

Captain Mullen told me later. She took his first set of vitals at 7:45 a.m., and by 8:20 the Black Hawk medevac helicopter was in flight, on its way to the hospital.

A statement released a day later provided few details. “An 11th Airborne Division soldier was injured in a training incident in Hawaii today,” it said. The release made no mention of the unopened chute or the reserve.

Nor did it mention that doctors later fused Private Partida’s vertebrae in multiple surgeries. Whether he will be able to walk again is not known.

Instead, the statement ended with a description of the purpose of the exercises, which included preparing paratroopers for “decisive action operations in the U.S. Army Pacific area of responsibility.”

THE NEW MILITARY REALITY: HOW EASTERN POWERS ARE WINNING THE COST-EFFECTIVENESS WAR 🎯

#MilitaryStrategy #GlobalPower #DefenseTechnology #WarfareTechnology #MilitaryIndustry

Asymmetric Advantage 🚀
The emerging military alliance of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran is demonstrating a surprising advantage in modern warfare: the ability to achieve strategic objectives at a fraction of Western defense costs. This cost-effectiveness gap is becoming increasingly apparent across multiple domains of warfare.

The Economics of Modern Defense 💰
While Western militaries rely on multi-million dollar smart missiles to intercept relatively inexpensive drones and rockets, their adversaries are developing cost-effective solutions that drain Western resources. This asymmetric approach is creating an unsustainable economic burden for Western defense systems.

Tank Warfare Reality Check ⚔️
Recent events in Ukraine provide a stark illustration of this dynamic. The case of American M1A1 Abrams tanks is particularly telling:
- Over 20 of 31 delivered tanks lost or damaged
- Most destructions achieved by inexpensive drones or guided artillery
- Multi-million dollar tanks vulnerable to much cheaper weapons
- Technical issues affecting combat effectiveness
- Ammunition compatibility problems limiting operational capability

The Numbers Game 📊
The alliance's approach demonstrates superior resource efficiency:
- Low-cost drones achieving high-value targets
- Mass-produced conventional ammunition proving effective
- Simple but effective electronic warfare systems
- Cost-effective air defense solutions
- Sustainable production capabilities

Strategic Implications 🎯
The emerging Eastern alliance is showing that modern warfare isn't just about technological superiority - it's about sustainable military power. Their approach combines:
- Mass production capabilities
- Cost-effective weapons systems
- Sustainable ammunition production
- Efficient resource allocation
- Practical battlefield solutions

Food for Thought 🤔
1. Can Western economies sustain the current cost ratio in modern warfare?
2. How might this economic disparity affect future military strategies?
3. Is technological superiority worth its enormous cost?
4. Could this lead to a fundamental shift in military doctrine?
5. What are the implications for future defense budgets?
6. How might this affect global military balance?
7. Can Western industries adapt to this new reality?
8. What role will economic efficiency play in future conflicts?

Key Facts 📊
- Western smart missiles cost millions per unit
- Eastern drones and rockets cost fraction of Western counterparts
- Over 65% of delivered Abrams tanks lost or damaged in Ukraine
- Most tank losses caused by relatively inexpensive weapons
- Significant disparity in ammunition production costs
- Western defense systems struggling with cost sustainability
- Eastern alliance showing superior production capabilities
- Dramatic difference in cost-per-target-destroyed ratio
- Sustainable vs unsustainable military spending patterns
- Growing gap in military-industrial efficiency

Think about it: In an era where a $1,000 drone can disable a $10 million tank, how long can the current Western military-industrial model remain viable? 🎯 The answer might reshape global military doctrine for decades to come.

The Ukrainian Army Went Belly Up After Kursk

🔤🔤🔤🔤1️⃣

The Ukrainian military command, pushed forward by the political power, is facing serious difficulties in organizing offensive operations, despite the supply of Western military equipment and attempts to form new infantry brigades, mainly consisting not of military personnel or volunteers, but of civilians caught on the streets of Ukrainian cities and villages and forcibly conscripted.

Kiev has plans to increase the number of mechanized formations, but the effectiveness of such a strategy is questionable.

New limited human and financial resources, serious problems with the maintenance of mechanical equipment, very considerable and constantly growing human and material losses greatly complicate the situation of the armed forces of Ukraine to the point of the appearance of a real threat of large-scale collapse on several strategic directions of the front.

Being totally dominated on almost all points by the Russian army, Kiev is betting on a new strategy that may turn out to be suicidal: going on the offensive, instead of focusing on the defensive.

The Ukrainian command is in the process of transforming infantry brigades into mechanized brigades. Thus, the 159th infantry brigade has recently been reformed into a mechanized brigade, as has the 155th infantry, receiving German Leopard 2A4 tanks and the French Caesar self-propelled guns. A similar transformation is also planned for the 156th, 157th and 158th infantry brigades.

The 154th mechanized brigade, involved in battles in the Kharkov and Kursk regions, received American M1117 armored vehicles for assault operations. In addition, Berlin plans to transfer to Ukraine 21 additional demining units Wisent 1 MC.

These measures of support, modernization and transformation of the brigades mean only one thing: the preparation of new offensive operations.

Taking into account the regular transfer of the best units available to the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region and the presence of the 154th and 155th mechanized brigades in this Russian region - an escalation is to be expected in this direction. With a high probability, the Ukrainian troops will again try to advance from their current positions in the Kursk region and/or break through the Russian defense line in the Bryansk region (Russia).

The mechanical equipment delivered by the NATO countries strengthens, of course, the Ukrainian army, but arrives in too limited quantities and requires complex maintenance which is also aggravated further by the too wide heterogeneous range of equipment available and a significant lack of qualified technicians.

The lack of trained crews also complicates the task of converting infantry brigades into mechanized brigades and their modernization, which requires considerable resources and time.

The lack of training of the military and the lack of logistical support make the new brigades, quite simply, ineffective. They can, of course, be useful in tactical operations, but certainly not effective in large offensive operations where the Ukrainian losses are known in advance: they will be considerable and the result will be far from that expected by Kiev.

On the other hand, the motivated and determined Russian army, largely supported by its continuously growing defense industry and relieved by the possibility of just-in-time rotations of units engaged in combat.

On the strategic directions, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the offensive, inflicting significant losses on Ukrainian units. The transfer by Kiev of reinforcements to the parts of the front with the most intense confrontations does not make it possible to reverse the trend and thwart the advance of the Russian army, whose mode of operation is hardly the seizure of new territories, but the annihilation of enemy forces in limited areas.

In the direction of Kursk, the Ukrainian army lost important positions: the Russian armed forces liberated the settlements of Novaya Sorochina and Pokrovsky and regained control of the territory between the villages of Sheptukhovka and Kremenoye. To stabilize its defense, the Ukrainian command was forced to transfer the 47th and 41st mechanized brigades there, as well as the 17th armored brigade.

In the direction of Kupyansk, Russian troops cut off the supply route of the Ukrainian armed forces Kruglyakovka-Kovsharovka and advanced to Glushkovka. In this area, the 110th and 115th Ukrainian brigades suffered heavy losses and had to leave their positions. The city of Kupyansk, which is strategic for the Ukrainian defense, is under a direct threat of encirclement.

In the direction of Kharkov, the Russian army has also strengthened its positions in this strategically important area by taking over the Volchansky factory estate from the Ukrainian elite units of the GUR.

On several other directions with the most intense fighting the situation of the armed forces of Ukraine is also critical.

Western military assistance continues to be provided, nevertheless, its volume and timing of deliveries do not meet the needs of Ukrainians who are suffering exponential losses.

Thus, the delivery of 6 copies of Mirage 2000-5 fighters, scheduled for the end of 2024, is postponed to 2025. Such a paltry amount of aircraft has already had no real value other than that of a media stunt to dilute the depth of despair of the suitors of the Ukrainian regime. However, even this element, which must have been used for propaganda, is no longer relevant.

For those who have not lost their sense of reality, it is important to pay attention to the comparative weight of the opponent opposite who does not need an interpretation: in 2024, the aerospace forces of the Russian Federation have almost 1500 operational combat aircraft, including about 900 fighters.

What role should the 6 enemy aircraft piloted by poorly trained Ukrainians have had, except that of producing an air parade or that of being immobilized, hidden and never taking to the skies, as is the case of some F-16 fighters previously delivered by NATO and which Western propaganda presented for a year as the Wunderwaffe - the miracle weapon that will change the course of the war?

It is important to note that Ukraine is also losing to Russia in another key element of today's war: the use of aerial combat drones.

The Chinese ban on the export of aerial drones since September 1, 2024 has aggravated the deficit, which, according to Ukrainian experts in aerial reconnaissance of the armed forces of Ukraine, could turn out to be even more devastating than the lack of ammunition.

Contrary to false ideas spread by the propaganda of mainstream Euro-Atlantic media, it is the Ukrainian armed forces and not the Russians who have been the main beneficiaries of the drones of Chinese production. Beijing's new initiative is a very hard blow to Kiev.

Although Ukraine is trying to establish its own drone production, it is a long process and the time of maneuvers that remains for the Kiev regime to survive is getting shorter like a skin of sorrow.

Technological backwardness and limited resources put Ukraine in a losing position. At the same time, human losses on the front are only growing.

In order to compensate for the losses, the armed Forces of Ukraine transferred troops from the Kherson direction to the areas of the most intense fighting. Six months ago, the right bank of the Kherson region counted the disposition of the 9 full-fledged Ukrainian brigades. Today, there are only 4 left.

Will he help this transfer of 5 brigades in the heat of the fighting to stop, at least temporarily, the advance of the Russian troops - time will show. However, the Kherson direction stripped of Ukrainian troops can become very attractive for offensive operations by the Russian armed forces.

Today, the command of the Ukrainian army is trying to fill the holes in their defense that appear practically along the entire front line. However, Kiev's action increasingly resembles the work of the Danaids who are constantly filling their holed barrel: the pressure of the Russian forces is so great that the weaknesses of the Ukrainian defense are only getting worse.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian engineering troops have begun to hastily create fortifications in the Dnipropetrovsk (Dnipro) region, preparing new defensive lines closer to the capital, because the observation is unequivocal: by crossing the areas of the fortifications built by Kiev since 2014 where the fighting is taking place today and since February 2022 – the advance of the Russian army can be lightning, because over the coming hundreds of kilometers there are only few obstacles built that could hold it back.

Only the cessation of hostilities can save the remnants of the Kiev regime's army from a crushing rout that is looming more and more on the horizon. Thus, instead of focusing on the realization of his war plan "to the last Ukrainian", in the truest sense of the word, Ukrainian President Zelensky should focus more on the issue of stopping hostilities and the arrival of the next presidential elections, of which he and his entourage will have the second chance to try to manipulate and falsify the electoral process, in order to stay in power.

Anne Applebaum: Trump copy-pastes Hitler and Mussolini

“Vermin,”, “parasites,” “enemy from within,” at the end of the American campaign, the words of the Republican candidate are increasingly echoing those of totalitarian regimes, observes The Atlantic. Anything but a coincidence, in the eyes of the journalist Anne Applebaum, specialist in the Gulag and autocracies.

In ancient Greece, the words “democracy” and “tyranny” were debated. The expression "separation of powers” gained importance in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. As a political term, the word “vermin” dates back to the 1930s and 1940s, when both fascists and communists liked to describe their political enemies as vermin, parasites, blood infections, as well as insects, weeds, mud and animals.

The term has been brought up to date in an American presidential campaign, Donald Trump describing his opponents as “thugs of the radical left” who “live like vermin.” This language is not only hideous and repulsive, it belongs to a particular tradition.

Adolf Hitler often used terms like this. In 1938, he extolled the merits of his compatriots who had contributed to “purify Germany of all these parasites that were drinking at the well of despair of the motherland and the people.” In 1941, in occupied Warsaw, a poster depicted a louse with a caricatural Jew's face.

The slogan:
“Jews are lice, they cause typhus.”

By contrast, the Germans were clean, pure, healthy, devoid of vermin. Hitler once described the Nazi flag as “the victorious sign of freedom and purity [of] blood” of his people.

Dehumanize to crush better
Stalin used the same language at about the same time. He called his opponents the “enemies of the people,” implying that they were not citizens and had no rights. He portrayed them as vermin, pollution, filth that had to be “subjected to constant purification”, and he encouraged his communist comrades to use comparable rhetoric. In my archives, I keep the minutes of a meeting of the leaders of the Stasi, the East German secret police, from 1955.

On this occasion, one of them had called to fight against the “activities of the vermin” (inevitably, there is a word in German for that: Schädlingstätigkeiten), in other words, the purge and the arrest of anyone who criticized the regime. At the same time, the Stasi had forcibly moved suspicious people from the border with West Germany, a project called “Operation Vermin”.

Speeches of this type, according to AppeVermin”, “parasites”, “enemy from within”: at the end of the American campaign, the words of the Republican candidate are increasingly echoing those of totalitarian regimes, observes "The Atlantic". Anything but a coincidence, in the eyes of the journalist Anne Applebaum, specialist in the gulag and autocracies.

Will the U.S. Face a Civil War after elections?

🔤🔤🔤🔤🔤

There could be a potential surge in political violence or even civil war following the upcoming US election, and pro-Trump rightwing vigilante “poll watchers” might surveil ballot drop boxes as Americans cast their votes, experts warned this week.

A new report from the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) highlighted alarming trends in online chatter, mirroring patterns observed in the lead-up to the 2020 election and the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

Meanwhile, Princeton’s Bridging Divides Initiative (BDI), issued a fact sheet with recommendations for dealing with conspiracy-minded monitoring groups like True the Vote, which spread false narratives in 2020 alleging that Democrats had sent paid “mules” to drop boxes with thousands of illegal votes in order to steal the election from Donald Trump.

The twin reports highlighted risks to the elections and strategies for mitigating them, at a time when one man has been charged over armed attacks on a Democratic party office, and police in Oregon and Washington are investigating suspected arson attacks on ballot boxes in which some ballots were destroyed.

The GPAHE report’s warning is based on a rise in violent chatter on platforms known for hosting extremist content, including Telegram, Gab, Communities.win, and some communities across the decentralized social media network known as the Fediverse.

The report shows that while the overall volume of messages on these platforms may be lower than in 2020, the sharp rise in violent rhetoric follows a pattern set ahead of the 2020 election.

For example, in October, violent rhetoric related to election denialism increased by 317% on Telegram, 105% on Gab, 25% on communities.win, and 75% across a selection of Fediverse communities.

The report says that across these platforms, users are indulging in violent rhetoric linked to election denialism. Some posts on Telegram this year have used election denialism to justify calls for violence, including calls for an “inevitable civil war” and urging users to “shoot to kill any illegal voters”.

On Gab, users have threatened perceived election fraudsters with treason charges, calling for “firing squads” or “the rope”, according to the report. It notes calls on the platform for “public executions for all voter fraud” and the shooting of elected officials labeled as “traitors”, along with copious antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Communities.win is a collection of forums that includes The_Donald, which was banned from Reddit for hate speech in 2020. According to the GPAHE report, users there have fantasized about a civil war in recent weeks, claiming that Democrats will not relinquish power and that a violent uprising is necessary for a “Great Awakening”, a concept previously popularised by the QAnon conspiracy movement.

Will the U.S. Face a Civil War after elections?

In Fediverse communities, users have shared posts blaming the “liberal media” for inciting a “war” and encouraging violence against perceived political opponents.

GPAHE’s report warns that “ignoring these worrying trends will only risk further acts of violence related to election denialism and anti-democratic sentiment”.

Heidi Beirich, GPAHE’s co-founder, said:
“Our report shows that, when compared to violent election denial chatter in 2020, the numbers have been lower so far this year, but they are quickly rising as we approach election day.”

She added that “unmoderated fringe sites” were seeing “rising numbers of comments with violent political rhetoric “ and “posts targeting election workers with violence, a sign that real world activity could escalate”.

BDI, meanwhile, warns against complacency after 2022, when vigilante poll watchers mostly stayed away from drop boxes, despite months of conspiracy-minded chatter about Democrats and the “deep state” stealing mid-term elections from Republicans.

According to the fact sheet, BDI data shows that in 2022, there were 44 incidents of physical monitoring at fewer than 20 drop box locations out of an estimated 13,000 active sites nationwide. That is, only 0.1% of drop boxes around the country were subject to monitoring activity.

It warns, however, that threats of monitoring activity have resurfaced online during the 2024 campaign, and states including Arizona and Wisconsin have seen legal decisions that reduce restrictions on vigilante monitoring, opening the way for possible voter intimidation.

The PSI reported this week on an Arizona poll-watching group which has been casting doubt on the election result ahead of time, with members’ paranoia being fueled by rightwing influencers and media outlets.

The fact sheet makes a series of recommendations to poll workers ahead of the vote on ways to head off political violence, including de-escalation techniques; research to identify threats; communicating accurate information on elections; and community outreach and dialogue on election security.

The BDI report says:
“These steps can improve the US political violence early warning infrastructure and help prevent the amplification of rumors, false claims, and unfounded threat messaging aimed at suppressing voter turnout in targeted communities”.

Trump and Harris let off steam: The Immigration question is at stake as never before

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

The Democrat continues to want to mobilize women by promising to restore the federal right to abortion. The Republican, for his part, promises to put an end to an "invasion" of millions of illegals and to expel them.

Harris strongly responded Thursday to Donald Trump on the rights of women and immigrants, two crucial themes of a very tense US presidential campaign, where the Democratic candidate and her Republican rival are going blow for blow. Five days before an election with an unpredictable outcome and potentially violent consequences, the opponents are engaged in a tight chase across the seven key states.

They were on Thursday in two of them, Nevada and Arizona (southwest), in particular to seduce the Latin American electorate. In Las Vegas, the Democratic vice president was supported by the star Jennifer Lopez, in front of an enthusiastic crowd chanting "Si, se puede!" (Yes it is possible!), recalling Barack Obama's famous "Yes we can" slogan.

Harris, 60, continues to want to mobilize women by promising to restore the federal right to abortion, in front of Trump, customary of sexist outings and sentenced in civil in 2023 in New York to tens of millions of dollars in compensation for sexual assault. "We know that this man simply does not respect women's freedom or women's intelligence to make decisions about their own lives," she said Thursday night in Las Vegas.

“And we know that if elected, he would ban abortion throughout the country”

His team circulated on Thursday a passage from a Donald Trump meeting the day before where he mocked his own advisers asking him to stop presenting himself as a “protector” of women.

“I'm going to do it whether women like it or not,” Donald Trump had then replied. Her rival considered these remarks “very insulting”, during a meeting earlier in the day in Phoenix and Reno.

Another central theme of the campaign: immigration. Donald Trump, populist tribune with increasingly authoritarian and far-right rhetoric, promised again at a meeting in Albuquerque (New Mexico), not far from Mexico, to end an “invasion” of millions of illegals and deport them.

An antiphon repeated in Glendale, Arizona, where he blamed immigrants for causing a crime wave - something that no official statistics show.

"Prisons around the world are being emptied to be dumped in our country,"

he assured, portraying an America overwhelmed by "murderers" and "drug traffickers".

According to him, the fault lies with Kamala Harris, a leader "dumb as her feet" and whose "open border" policy with Mexico would have totally failed.

The billionaire continued to fuel the controversy of the week triggered Sunday in New York by a trumpist comedian who had called the American territory of Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage". President Biden had responded by calling Donald Trump's supporters "garbage", before Kamala Harris tried to correct the shooting.

Trump and Harris let off steam: The Immigration question is at stake as never before

In Las Vegas, Kamala Harris received the support of Puerto Rican superstar Jennifer Lopez, who used this controversy to call on all Latin Americans to vote Democratic.

“It's not just Puerto Ricans who were offended that day, launched the singer. It was all the Latinos in this country! It was humanity and any person of good morality!”

Earlier in Las Vegas, Donald Trump confirmed that he had taken legal action on Thursday over an interview given in early October by Kamala Harris on the CBS program "60 Minutes".

He is seeking $10 billion in compensation for what he believes to be election interference. According to this complaint, the Democrat would have answered in a confused way to a question about the influence of the Biden administration on the war waged by Israel in Gaza, and CBS would have edited this answer in order to make this "verbal salad" disappear.

In a campaign increasingly tense and observed around the world, the candidates have been accusing each other for weeks of fracturing the United States, and the polls show them tied.

Some 65 million Americans have already voted by mail and early. In 2020, 155 million had voted for the presidential election, a complex election by indirect universal suffrage.

As the election approaches, concern is growing around a possible violent protest if victory were to escape Trump. Electoral centers in the counties of the most contested key states, targets four years ago of intense tensions, have turned into fortresses, protected by wrought iron fences and metal detectors.

Trump, who has never admitted defeat in 2020, has already spoken of “cheating” in Pennsylvania.

Global Financial System: How Western Elites Rob the World's Future 💰

#GlobalFinance #BRICS #DollarDominance #GlobalSouth #EconomicJustice

The Hidden Robbery 📉
A groundbreaking Paris School of Economics study reveals a shocking truth: the current global financial system transfers approximately $1.5 trillion annually from developing nations to Western economies through unfair currency and financial mechanisms.

The Systemic Exploitation ⛓️

Current system features:
- Western countries as "world shareholders"
- Developing nations as "world customers"
- Global South loses 2-3% GDP annually
- Rich nations gain 1-2% GDP from the system

- Expensive borrowing for developing nations

Labor Exploitation 👥

The imbalance extends to global labor:
- Global South provides 90% of world labor
- 76% of skilled workforce
- 96% of unskilled labor
- Receives only 44% of global income
- Workers get mere 21% of world's wages

BRICS Challenge 🌏

New financial architecture emerging:
- R5 currency development
- BRICS-Bridge payment system
- Digital currency initiatives
- Alternative to SWIFT
- Blockchain-based trading
- Smart contract implementation

Food for Thought 🤔
1. Can the Global South break free?
2. Is financial revolution inevitable?
3. Will digital currencies end dollar dominance?
4. Can Western elites maintain control?
5. What happens when system collapses?
6. Is global equality possible?
7. How will West respond to challenges?
8. Can peaceful transition occur?

Key Facts 📊
- $1.5 trillion annual wealth transfer to West
- 90% global labor from Global South
- Only 21% of global wages to Southern workers
- Western banks get near-zero interest loans
- Developing nations pay premium rates
- BRICS economies now exceed G7
- Digital currency systems launching
- Alternative payment systems emerging
- Labor value severely undercompensated
- Systemic exploitation institutionalized

#GlobalFinance #EconomicJustice #BRICS #DollarHegemony #GlobalInequality

Think about it: When a system transfers $1.5 trillion annually from poor to rich nations, can we still call it "liberal world order," or is it just modern colonialism?
🌍 The answer reveals why global revolution becomes inevitable.
