Every year in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art organizes an exhibition of the Costume Institute, where a special theme is chosen. This time the exhibition was called "Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion".

More than 250 items of closet and accessories are presented in the exhibition, all of them in one way or another connected with the theme of nature and the cycle of rebirth and renewal. As a follow-up to this idea, the dress code for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Ball was "The Garden of Time," and in accordance with it, celebrities from the worlds of film, music and fashion chose their outfits to walk the red carpet.

The clothes on display span four centuries, from a 17th-century embroidered jacket to Alexander McQueen's shell dress from his spring-summer 2001 collection. Some pieces are so fragile that even mannequins could damage them, so these items are displayed in flat, transparent boxes. For already damaged outfits, holograms are used so that visitors can see their former beauty.

The exhibition "Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be open until September 2.
