👉 Named after Aruna, the charioteer of Sun God. Total height of 33 ft & 8 inches from ground.
Aruna Stambha was shifted from Konark to Puri in 18th century by Marathas when Konark laid in ruins.
During the time of Divyasingha Deva, Maratha, Brahmachari Gosain brought this pillar fromKonark and re-erected it in front of Shree Jagannatha temple. (Recorded in Madala Panji). It was done because konark was abandoned & worship ceased there.

This ancient temple is one of 108 Divya Desams. It is said to be older than Ananthapadmabhan Swamy in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is in a picturesque setting surrounded on three sides by rivers namely, River Kothai, River Pahrali and River Thamirabarani.
Due to an error committed by Lord Brahma while performing a Yagna, two demons emerged from the fire – Kesan and Kesi. They caused all inconveniences to the Sages and Devas. They came to Lord Vishnu for protection. Lord killed Kesan and used Kesi as a pillow for His bed. The demon’s wife, to avenge the Lord, called Rivers Ganga and Tambiraparani to help her.
They came in spate to wash off the Lord. Mother Earth simply elevated the ground level where the Lord was reclining. Both the rivers went around the Lord, prayed to Him and continued to flow round as two garlands. Hence it is also called as 'The Srirangam of Chera Kingdom' This event is mentioned in Nammalvar’s Mangalasasanam hym

This is the place where King Pandu, father of Pandavas of the epic mahabarath, meditated here to God Vishnu, to cleanse him of the sin of killing of 2 mating deers, who where ascetics in their previous lives. The pandavas were also born here and Pandu died and attained salvation here also .
A lot of temples including Yogadhayan Badri temple, where pandu Installed the bronze image of Vishnu, Vasudev temple, Kuber temple, Ghantakarna temple etc are seen in here.Some newly constructed Iodges, hotels, and shops were also seen in Pandukeswar.
According to legend, after the Mahabarath war, the Pandavas came here to repent. They handed over their kingdom to their grandson Parikshith, and begining their mahaprasthan
yatra to Swargarohini Via Mana, Badri, from Pandukeswar.(Murali K.S.Pranavam)Oct-2019.
