The 245 feet high great Murudeshwar temple is mentioned since the Ramayana period. Murudeshwar is a town located in Bhatkal tehsil of Uttara Kannada district in the Karnataka state of South India. 'Murudeshwar' is a name for Lord Shiva. The world's second tallest statue of Lord Shiva is situated here.
This town is situated on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is situated at a very beautiful and peaceful place on the shores of the Arabian Sea, 165 km away from Mangaluru. Murudeshwar Sagartat is one of the most beautiful beaches of Karnataka. It is doubly beneficial for tourists to come here, where on one hand they get to visit this religious place, on the other hand they also get to enjoy the natural beauty.
Murudeshwar is also a railway station on the Mangalore-Mumbai railway line.
There is a fort behind the Murudeshwar temple complex which dates back to the period of the Vijayanagara Empire.

Climbing the Eighteenth Step for Direct Darshan...
*New arrangements have begun at Sabarimala, allowing pilgrims to have darshan directly after climbing the eighteenth step without using the flyover. Pilgrims can now proceed to the Balikalpura through both sides of the flagpole and have a clear view of the deity. To facilitate this, the platforms of varying heights previously placed in front of the sopanam (sacred steps) have been completely removed.*
*Construction work has started to set up a new platform leading from the eastern porch door to the sopanam, with two separate queues for pilgrims. A protective covering will be installed to prevent direct contact with the balikallu (sacrificial stone). This new arrangement allows pilgrims to enter through the eastern entrance and begin their darshan immediately. Special railings will be constructed to separate the two lines.*
*On average, around 80 pilgrims climb the eighteenth step every minute. The new queue system,🙏🔯🕉🔔🔱 🙏🔯🔱🔔🕉சுவாமி சரணம்
