Krishnendra Guru was born towards the end of Eighteenth Century (18th Century) in Ananthapura district of Madras- Karnataka. He was born in the family of Rajapurohit and his Poorvashram name was "Ananth".
He was drawn towards vedadhyayana from a very early age. He chose Kumbakonam for his vedhadhyana and was known as Anantha Shastry.
He left Kumbakonam in search of a sadguru and reached Kashi kshetra. His companion was Marthanda Dikshitha, father of Chidambara Dikshitha, presumed to be an avathar of Shri. Chidambareshwara of Gurlahosuru. Shri.Siddeshwara Maharaja who left his worldly body at Karaveerapura after gaining popularity in Kolhapura princely state was also his companion. All the three were in search of a guru. They prostrated before Shri.Swayamprakasha, a thaponishtha yati of Kashi,it is believed a magnet will attract iron and not stone. Here, the Guru estimated the caliber of these three shishyas through his divyadrishthi. He turned these shishyas into experts in vedas through sadupadesha. The guru had to undergo some torture because of janmanthara karma. It was destined that these three shishyas were to be tested for their devotion. The yathi invoked some disease using his tapobala. His body was covered with wounds, puss and blood and emanated foul smell.
All his disciples except these three abandoned the gurukula. These three never turned their backs but continued to nurse the Guru. Finally, the guru recovered and blessed them.
Shri. Swayamprakasha yati gave Sanyasa deeksha only to Anantha Shastry and gave him the name as Krishnendra. He was asked to travel towards South India by Shri. Swayamprakasha yati and after travelling several places Sri.Krishnendra Guru reached Hubballi and settled here.
Krishnendra Guru went on a pilgrimage and conducted Gayathri Punascharana. He brought people into the righteous path by discourses and showed his mahima in Karnataka.
His disciples were Sri.Narasimha Bhatt Agnihotri,Sri Ganesh Pant Sahasrabuddhe, Sri.Padaki Baavu Rao, Narasobawadi temple priest Sri.Appanna Bhattaru and Sri.Trivikrama Shastry.
Later, realizing that the end is not far off, he came to Hubballi and started Gayathri Punascharana under a dry oudumbara vriksha. Soon, the dry tree sprang to life. After some time, the Guruji attained Samadhi under the same tree. Soon after, the tree also withered away.
Since then, the Guruji though invisible to the eyes, stands personified to the eyes of the devotees. The place is still awake and alive. There are several people who have got rid of their diseases and evil spirits by a single darshana. He is there to fulfill the desires of devotees. Daily poojas and deeparadhane are being held for the past several years. Every year, aradhana is held on 13th and 14th days of Kartheeka shuddha. In this connection, Mukthadwara Annasantharpane is also arranged. And the number of devotees is increasing year by year.

Worshipping Rama as a King, Orchha (Madhya Pradesh) - (460 kms from Delhi)
A medieval fort on the Betwa River, Orchha came into being at the beginning of the 16th century CE, when the Bundela dynasty moved its capital here. Over centuries, the place saw structures soar and legends around them taken even higher.
The biggest story here links the towering Chaturbhuj Temple with the Ram Raja shrine. Apparently, a queen of Orchha wanted to build a Ram Temple here. A magnificent idol of Rama was brought from Ayodhya and while the Chaturbhuj Temple was being built, it was temporarily housed in the queen’s palace. However, when the time came to take the idol to the main shrine, it could not be moved. Consequently, the palace itself became a temple causing Rama to be worshipped as a king here. The cathedral-like Chaturbhuj stands empty in an eternal wait.

Good Morning
Khandoba Temple – Shirdi
Today is *Champa Shashti*.
Khandoba, also known as Mylaralinga, Martanda Bhairava, or Malhari in Maharastra, parts of Karnataka, and Mallanna in Andhra Pradesh, is a fierce deity. It is believed that he can cause trouble if not worshipped properly according to family traditions. Khandoba is offered turmeric powder (Bhandara), Bel leaves, onions, and other vegetables during worship.
Khandoba is believed to be the manifestation of Lord Shiva and is commonly depicted riding a horse with a sword in hand, often accompanied by his two wives.
The Khandoba temple is located on the main road in Shirdi. It holds historical significance as Sai Baba was first welcomed to Shirdi at this temple by Mhalsapati, the temple priest, who greeted him with the words, “Aao Sai.” This is how Sai Baba got his name. Inside the temple, there are idols of Khandoba, Banai, and Mhalsai.
Mhalsapati, the hereditary priest of this temple, considered Khandoba his family deity. He was instrumental in initiating the worship of Sai Baba. The Khandoba temple, built around 500 years ago, originally had a simple and rural design with no doors. Near its entrance stands a large banyan tree, under which Sai Baba arrived with Chand Patil's wedding party. Sai Baba initially wanted to reside in this temple, but Mhalsapati, believing Baba to be a Muslim, refused. Baba left, saying, “If you do not want me to stay here, I will go elsewhere.” Eventually, Sai Baba made the dilapidated mosque in Shirdi his home and lived there till his last breath.
Khandoba is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva. *Margashirsha Shukla Shashti*, known as Champa Shashti, marks the day when Lord Shiva appeared as Khandoba to defeat the demons Mani and Malla.
The story goes that Mani and Malla were granted immortality by Lord Brahma. However, they misused their boon, troubling sages, devotees, and even gods. To stop them, Lord Shiva took the form of Khandoba and fought a battle. During the fight, Khandoba’s wife, Champa, prayed for his victory. On the sixth day, Khandoba defeated the demons. In celebration, Champa prepared a grand feast, including *Bharit* (a dish made of roasted brinjal with curd and spices) and *Bhakri* (a flatbread made of jowar). This marked the beginning of Champa Shashti celebrations. After the victory, Khandoba danced on burning coals, and since then, many devotees walk barefoot over hot coals as part of the rituals.
Navaratri Celebrations
During Navaratri, a holy lamp (*Nandadeep*) is kept burning in front of Khandoba’s idol. Devotees offer Bel leaves, Davana (a type of flower), and Marigold flowers, which are especially dear to Khandoba. Turmeric powder (*Bhandara*) plays a significant role in the worship.
On Champa Shashti, many families perform their *Kuldharma* (family traditions) by offering *Rodaga* (a wheat flour dish), *Thombara* (a cereal-based dish with curd and salt), onions with their leaves, *Bharit*, and garlic as prasad. Some devotees fast for five days, breaking it with prasad on the sixth day, Champa Shashti. Special lamps called *Divti* and *Budhali* are used during the *Aarati* (ritual worship) held daily during this period.

*Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj Temple*
Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj Temple is located at Satana near Nashik-Maharastra. Sant Dev Mamledar Yashwantrao Maharaj was a great saint during the 18th century. He was also an important disciple of Swami Samarth and is believed to have had darshan of Bhagwan Vishnu.
A beautiful Samadhi temple is built by his devotees near Nasik, on the banks of river Godavari.
*History*
Shri Yashwant Rao Maharaj was born on September 13, 1815, at Omkar Wada in Pune, in a family originally from Bhosale, Pandharpur, Solapur district. He belonged to the Kashyap gotra of the Ashwalayan branch of Brahmins, and his family had a long tradition of serving Lord Dattaguru. Shri Yashwant Maharaj worshiped and served Swami Samarth. He was also known as Parama Poojya Dev Mamledar, a great saint of the 18th century.
Shri Yashwant Rao Maharaj was known for dedicating his life to helping the poor, helpless women, children, and those suffering from illness. He treated all these people as his own family. From 1829 to 1872, he worked in various positions in the Revenue Department for 43 years across different parts of Maharashtra.
In 1870-71, Maharashtra faced a severe famine. People and animals were dying due to hunger. At that time, Shri Yashwant Maharaj was the Taluka Tehsildar in Balgan. He sold all his property and distributed the money to the poor. However, the amount he raised was still insufficient given the scale of the famine. This situation was noticed by Dev Mamledar, the Taluka Mamledar, who also distributed a large sum of money from the government treasury to the poor. This amount was 127,000 rupees, which was a significant sum at the time. When his superiors came to check, they found that the entire amount was accounted for in the treasury without any discrepancies. This event was considered a miracle, and Lord Vishnu is believed to have appeared before Yashwant Maharaj. The people of Balgan, who had seen his dedication during the famine, considered him divine, and from then on, he was known as Yashwant Maharaj Dev Mamledar.
It is believed that during his life, he performed many divine acts. One night, Shri Swami Samarth appeared in the dream of Shri Dev Mamledar and gave him a small "Shaligram". When Dev Mamledar woke up the next morning, he found the same Shaligram in the temple at his home. This Shaligram is still kept in the house and devotees visit and have the darshan.
Shri Dev Mamledar attained Mahasamadhi on December 27, 1887, at Satana. This day is celebrated as his memorial, which falls on the 11th of Margashirsha Krishna. His Samadhi is located near Nashik, in Satana, where a large annual celebration is held.
When Shri Dev Mamledar was cremated, the next day, people found a large Shiv Linga at the same spot. This Shiv Linga is also kept in the house.
Even today, thousands of devotees visit his Samadhi from all over Maharashtra. The celebration lasts for 15 days, and devotees believe that by receiving his blessings, all their desires are fulfilled. Satana was his home, and a beautiful temple dedicated to him stands there. Devotees are encouraged to visit this sacred place and receive blessings from Shri Yashwant Maharaj.

*Today is Datta Jayanti*
*Mahurgud Dattatreya Temple*
Mahurgud Dattatreya Temple also called as the Mahur Datta Mandir is one of the most famous and oldest Dattatreya temples of Nanded District in Maharashtra. The temple is situated on a hill and it is also believed that Mahur was the birthplace of Guru Dattatreya. It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for devotees of Lord Dattatreya.
Datta Bhagavan is known as Chiranjeevi, or the immortal form. It is believed that he exists in a subtle or smallest form (Sookshma Roopa) in all his sacred places (Kshetras). Mahur is considered one of the places where Datta Guru comes to rest. According to belief, Datta Prabhu takes his daily bath (Nitya Snan) in Meruwada Talao at Mahur, has Bhiksha (offered meal) at Kolhapur, eats food (Bhojan) at Panchleswar, and then returns to Mahur to sleep. The Devadeveswar Temple in Mahur is said to be Lord Dattatreya's resting place.
*Birth of Lord Dattatreya*
Lord Dattatreya was born as the son of Sage Atri and Anusuya, a virtuous couple from the Vedic age. Anusuya, renowned for her devotion to her husband, was an embodiment of chastity and purity. Her spiritual power was so immense that even hard ground would turn soft beneath her feet.
One day, the three Gods – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva – decided to test her virtue and approached her in disguise as mendicants. They requested alms but with the strange condition that she serve them food without wearing any clothes. In Indian tradition, a guest (Athithi) is considered divine and cannot be turned away. Faced with this dilemma, Anusuya reflected on her pure life and saw no harm in their request. She viewed them as her own children, not as strangers.
Her purity transformed the mendicants into three infants. When Sage Atri returned, he found his wife caring for the babies. Anusuya explained that they were a divine gift to the childless couple. Sage Atri named them Datta, meaning “gift.”
The three Gods then revealed their true forms, praising Anusuya’s chastity and purity. At the couple’s request, they agreed to remain as their sons and merged into one form, giving rise to Lord Dattatreya, who is revered as Gurudeva Datta, the Guru of all Gurus.
Datta Jayanti is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at the temple.Thousands of devotees gather to participate in special rituals and prayers during this occasion.
