#Koothanur_Saraswathi_Temple in Tamil Nadu is a very rare temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. She is also called #VidyaSaraswathi and #VidyaDevi. The temple is located at Koothanur near Poonthottam which is on Mayiladuthurai - Thiruvarur bus route. The shrine is small but is of great significance due to the rarity of Saraswati Temples in India. The temple is located on the banks of Arasalar River. The belief is that waters of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati are present in the Arasalar River. Legend has it that once there was huge quarrel between Goddess Saraswati and Brahma. They both cursed each other to be born on earth. Goddess Saraswati then prayed to Shiva to escape from human form. She merged with the Arasalar River. Before leaving she blessed the region with her presence in a shrine on the banks of Arasalar River. Koothanur is the birthplace of the Tamil poet Ottakoothar. King Rajaraja Cholan gifted this village for koothanโs poem because he is a great poet. So this village is called Koothan + oor =Koothanur. The murti of Goddess Saraswati is three-eyed. She is seated in yogasana pattern on a white lotus and wears a white silk sari. She holds palm leaves in one had. One hand is in chin mudra and one hand holds Akshamala. One hand holds a nectar pot. There is a Swayambhu Vinayaka Murti in the temple. There are also murtis of Valampuri Vinayaka, Baladandayuthapani, Nagaraja, Brahma and Swan.

If someone were to ask me- if there is one place you must visit in Uttarakhand which place would it be, I would say you must visit Parvati Kund and Jageshwar Temples in the Kumaon region of the state. The natural beauty and divinity will leave you spellbound.
Of course, Uttarakhand has many well known places worth visiting and I have also visited the state very often. This includes the sacred places of Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are most memorable experiences. But, to return to Parvati Kund and Jageshwar Temples after many years has been special.

The original Dhakeshwari temple in Dhaka was built and Devi installed in 12th c. CE by Raja Ballal Sen (Sena dynasty), and Dhaka was named after the Devi.
During the post partition days, as rยกots continued unabated, in 1948 a special plane shrouded in secrecy arrived in Kolkata from Dhaka. As curiosity grew around the special flight, it was soon learned that the passenger who had flown in was a very special one. It was the murti of Devi Dhakeshwari from the famed temple in Dhaka. The small golden murti of the Devi was put into a box, placed inside an ordinary suitcase, and covered with clothes and newspapers to avoid Dhaka customs detection. The suitcase was carried by Rajendra Kishore Tiwari (temple sevayat), and accompanying him were Harihar Chakravarty and Brajendra Dubey. The murti, once in Kolkata, was taken to the home of an industrialist Debendranath Chowdhury, whose family owned the Banga Laxmi Cotton Mill. Soon Debendranath Chowdhury acquired land in Kumartuli and built a temple, where Dhakeshwari devi was installed in 1950 and the temple was named Dhakeshwari Matar Mandir.
