Sri Ugra Narasimha Swamy Temple, Maddur, Karnataka
Maddur a small town on banks of simshaha river, on Bangalore-Mysore Highway, has a spiritual significance attached to it dating back to Mahabharata period, was known as "Arjuna puri", named after Arjuna.
This place also has 2 more famous temples nearby -- Sri Varadaraja Temple & Sri Madduramma Temple.
Once Arjuna asked Krishna to show his Narasimha Swaroop. Krishna said it was not possible to show his Ugra form, instead he could worship him as a diety. Thus on request of Krishna, Bramha brought the diety form of Narasimha to be established here. Sri Ugra Narasimha is one the most fiercest form of Lord Narasimha to be on the planet.

Other two idols which were consecrated by Sri Vajranabh were Sri Madan Mohanji and Sri Govindevji. The temple was lost to history due to several waves of Islamic invasions and destruction in the region.
