Nestlé Knew About Toxin Risk 10 Days Before Infant Formula Recall: Report

🍼 The Swiss company detected traces of the toxin cereulide in products made at its Netherlands factory in late November, a French newspaper reported.

Tests in early December confirmed its presence, but authorities outside the Netherlands were only informed around December 9–10, when recalls began.

🔍 The issue has drawn serious concern after two infant deaths in France were allegedly linked to contaminated formula. Investigations are now underway.

Reports also raise questions about why products from other factories and manufacturers, using the same raw materials, were recalled later.

ℹ️ Cereulide can cause vomiting and diarrhea within hours of consumption, with symptoms similar to food poisoning.
