π DID YOU KNOW?
ZCASH PRIVACY GOES BEYOND THE BLOCKCHAIN
Zcash can hide the sender, receiver and transaction amount.
But there is another layer of privacy that matters:
Your network connection.
When a wallet broadcasts a transaction through infrastructure such as an indexer, network metadata β including a user's IP address β can potentially reveal information that never appears on the blockchain itself.
That's why developers in the Zcash ecosystem are working on zero-indexer.
The project is designed to prevent infrastructure operators and outside observers from easily linking:
π Your IP address
βοΈ Your wallet activity
π Your shielded transactions
It uses a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) to process sensitive requests inside an isolated environment.
The important lesson:
Blockchain privacy and network privacy are not the same thing.
A truly private financial system needs to protect both.
And Zcash developers are actively working on exactly that.

β‘ DID YOU KNOW?
ZCASH COULD GET 3Γ FASTER
A major performance upgrade is being proposed for Zcash.
ZIP 218, currently proposed for Network Upgrade 7 (NU7), would reduce Zcashβs target block time from:
β± 75 seconds β 25 seconds
What could that mean?
β‘ ~3Γ faster block production
π Faster first confirmations
π Orchard capacity: ~2.9 β ~6.6 TPS
π No change to Zcashβs 21M maximum supply
The proposal is designed to improve transaction latency and network throughput while preserving Zcashβs core privacy architecture.
Important: This is not live yet. ZIP 218 is currently a draft proposal being considered for NU7.
Zcash isnβt only about privacy.
Itβs a privacy protocol that continues to evolve β improving speed, scalability and usability without abandoning its core principles.

π‘ ZCASH 101: SHIELDED vs. TRANSPARENT TRANSACTIONS
One of the most misunderstood things about Zcash is this:
Not every ZEC transaction has to be private.
Zcash gives users two fundamentally different ways to transact.
π TRANSPARENT TRANSACTIONS
Transparent Zcash works similarly to Bitcoin.
Transaction data is recorded publicly on the blockchain, meaning information such as addresses, transferred amounts and transaction history can be visible and analyzed.
Transparent addresses traditionally begin with βtβ.
π‘ SHIELDED TRANSACTIONS
Shielded Zcash uses zero-knowledge cryptography to validate transactions without publicly revealing the sensitive transaction data.
In a fully shielded transaction, the blockchain can verify that the transaction is valid without publicly exposing:
β’ the sender
β’ the recipient
β’ the amount transferred
β’ the encrypted memo
The network can therefore enforce the monetary rules without needing to reveal the financial details of the payment.
β‘ WHY DOES ZCASH SUPPORT BOTH?
Because Zcash was designed to give users choice.
Transparent transactions provide compatibility with services and exchanges that don't yet support shielded ZEC.
Shielded transactions provide financial privacy when supported by the user's wallet or service.
Modern Zcash wallets can also use Unified Addresses, allowing different Zcash receiver types to be handled through a more convenient address system.
And following the Ironwood NU6.3 upgrade, Zcash continues evolving its shielded infrastructure while preserving this fundamental idea:
Privacy should be available at the protocol level β not added as an afterthought.
Zcash doesn't simply move value.
It gives users control over how much of their financial activity becomes public.
