Chinese underwater ATTACK ROBOTS!
China is developing underwater robots that can identify and attack enemy vessels – WITHOUT human guidance.
Newly-declassified research shows a drone successfully striking a dummy submarine with a torpedo using AI rather than an operator. The trial took place over a DECADE AGO, which means the tech will likely have been developed and refined further.
The experiment was held in the Taiwan Strait – a stretch of water that China claims sovereignty over, along with Taiwan itself. The reveal comes as fears grow over a potential invasion – perhaps a signal to the US and its allies that defending Taiwan would be fraught with risk?
