🔒 Stability over novelty — LTS distros reduce operational risk. Rolling releases are great for research, dangerous for prod.

⚡ Tail latency, not average latency — slow wakeups, NIC interrupts on busy cores, CPU frequency scaling at the wrong moment will hurt you more than any benchmark suggests.

📦 Reproducible deployments — if you cant reliably rebuild dev → staging → prod, youll eventually ship a works on my machine outage.

🌐 Networking stack quality — hardware timestamping, DPDK, AF_XDP, Intel/Mellanox NIC support. Kernel and driver quality matters more than your desktop environment.

⚠️ Critical Linux Kernel Vulnerability “Dirty Frag” Affects AlmaLinux and Other Major Distributions

A critical Linux kernel vulnerability known as Dirty Frag (CVE-2026-43284 / CVE-2026-43500) has been publicly disclosed and is currently being actively discussed across the Linux security community.

The vulnerability allows local privilege escalation to root and public exploit code is already available. Systems with shared access environments such as VPS hosting, shared hosting, CI/CD runners, containers, and multi-user systems are considered at higher risk.

The issue affects multiple major Linux distributions, including:
