Flight 🛫 control surfaces
It is the rules of control and according to the components mentioned in the shape of the aircraft and these are for the basic surfaces of the aircraft and thus it is clear as follows
In aviation, flight control surfaces are essential for maneuvering and stability of an aircraft. There are six basic flight control surfaces:

1️⃣ AILERONS: Located on the rear edges of the wings, they control rolling by moving in opposite directions. When one of the winglets rises, the other falls, causing the plane to flip along with the low aileron.

2️⃣ SPOILERS: The spoilers are placed on the upper surface of the wings, reducing lift and increasing drag when deployed. They are used to aid in landing and to help slow down the aircraft when landing.

3️⃣ FLAPS: Located on the rear edge of the wings, the flaps extend downwards to increase lift and pull. This allows for a more controlled flight during take-off and landing.

4️⃣ SLAT: Located on the front edge of the wings, the slats extend forward to create additional lift at low speeds, improving aircraft performance during takeoff and landing.

5️⃣ RUDDER: It is placed on the vertical stabilizer at the tail of the aircraft, and the rudder controls the diffraction. It moves left or right to guide the nose of the aircraft in the opposite direction, aiding in directional control.

6️⃣ ELEVATOR: Connected to the horizontal stabilizer of the rear plane, it controls the degree of inclination of the elevators. By moving up or down, they cause the nose of the aircraft to rise or fall, making it easier to climb and descend.

These control surfaces work in unison to enable precise maneuverability and ensure safe and stable flight.

Accelerate-Stop Distance Available (ASDA) – Landing Distance Available (LDA)

Takeoff Run Available (TORA) – the runway length declared available and suitable for the ground run of an airplane taking off

Takeoff Distance Available (TODA) – the length of the TORA plus the length of the clearway, if provided

Accelerate-Stop Distance Available (ASDA) – the TORA plus the length of the stopway, if provided for the acceleration and deceleration of an airplane aborting a takeoff

Landing Distance Available (LDA) – the runway length declared available and suitable for landing an airplane

✈️ Why Are Airplane Windows Round, Not Square?

🔹 Pressure Distribution: At cruising altitude, the inside of the plane is under much higher pressure than the outside. Round windows spread that stress evenly, preventing weak spots.
🔹 Stronger Structure: Curved shapes handle stress better. No sharp corners means fewer cracks and less fatigue over time.
🔹 History Lessons: Early planes had square windows, but cracks and failures led engineers to switch to rounded designs saving lives and improving safety.

Ethiopian Airlines domestic destination is further expanding! Today, we proudly inaugurated Negele Borena Geda Airport and commenced a new passenger service in a grand ceremony attended by the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed, the President of the Oromia Regional State His Excellency Shimelis Abdisa, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew, high level government officials, the airlines’ executives, local community representatives, and various stakeholders.

The ceremony unveiled a new airport and marked the beginning of a new thrice weekly service to Negele Borena, growing the airlines’ domestic destination to 24.

Ethiopian Airlines recently confirmed orders for additional Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to expand its international network and modernize its fleet.

The airline is also expanding domestic operations by opening new airports and routes inside Ethiopia, including Negele Borena, Gore Metu, and Debre Markos.

Discussions are also ongoing about adding more Airbus A350 and A220 aircraft to support future growth and regional connectivity.

Another major aviation project is the future Bishoftu International Airport, planned to become one of Africa’s largest airport hubs in the coming years.
