Hello everyone,

In today's release we have added two new features: 3D scene quality setting and measurements tools.

3D scene quality setting allows you to select one of three available modes: best performance, balance between performance and quality, best quality. The setting affects the Tiled Models, Tie Points and Dense Clouds.

Measurement tools are built in annotation tools and allow to perform measurements on the fly when creating and editing Points, Polyline and Polygons.

- Point :
- Coordinates
- Polyline :
- 2D Length
- 3D Length
- Elevation deference
- Slope
- Polygon :
- 2D Perimeter
- 3D Perimeter

Dear users,

A couple of new features, improvements and bug fixes has been released today:

- Each geometry drawn now can be annotated with user defined properties. Export in .geojson format allows you to work with annotations created in the cloud in GIS applications.
- Vector layers and geometries can now be edited right in the Workspace pane on the left, by double clicking on the object's name.
- Each icon in a project viewer now has a tooltip, so it is easy to get used to the user interface.
- A bug causing new geometries creation in new layers when changing the drawing tool has been fixed.

Dear users,

We are happy to inform you that today we released a new tool called Presentation. With this tool it is available to create virtual tours around your projects.

Presentation consists of slides, each slide is a point in 3D scene with optional name and description and specific point of view that the camera will fly to when the slide is selected.

When the Presentation is created and configured properly it is available to make it accessible to everyone who has an access to the project by turning on Show always mode.

Detailed tutorials on how to work with Presentation tool can be found in our Knowledge Base.

Dear users,

Today we prepared a handful of tips on how to save budget and time while processing large photo sets on the cloud.

1. Go step by step instead of running a batch.

In projects with oblique photos there may be a lot of Tie Points and points of the Dense Cloud outside of the zone of your interest, so the region for the next processing step may be bigger than needed. Bigger region leads to more time required to perform the processing operation.

The best practice is to run alignment procedure, get the results, adjust region and optionally some other settings for the next processing operation and then start a Build Dense Cloud operation.

When Dense Cloud is built and before going further, you may adjust the region again to avoid further processing of unneeded areas.

2. Use preselection on alignment stage.

The alignment process of large photo sets can take a long time. A significant portion of this time period is spent on matching of detected features across the photos. Image pair preselection option may speed up this process due to selection of a subset of image pairs to be matched.

3. Split large portions of photos into chunks.

We highly recommend not to process more than 50 000 of photos in one chunk, because it leads to exponential growth of time needed to complete the alignment procedure. The recommended workflow of processing a project with more than 50 000 photos is to divide the project into chunks, process separately and merge them after alignment completion.

The same approach is also applicable to the smaller amount of photos, less photos in one chunk requires less time to align.

4. Do not calculate point colors if the point cloud is not of interest.

In case the desired processing result is not a point cloud, but for example DEM & Orthomosaic, Mesh or Tiled Model, uncheck the calculate point colors option in Build Dense Cloud operation advanced settings in case the points color is not of interest. This will save up processing time.

5. Use Depth Maps as source.

When building DEM, Mesh or Tiled Model use Depth maps as a source, this will also save up processing time.

All tips are available in our knowledge base for your convenience.

Dear users,

Today we are happy to present you a brand new feature - 3D DEM visualization.

Now DEM can be displayed in two modes:

- Default 2D display mode - DEM is displayed as a raster map coloured according to the elevation values of each pixel of DEM.
- Optional 3D display mode - DEM is displayed as a 3D terrain mesh merged with global terrain. Colored raster map is overlayed over the 3D terrain mesh.

In case a colored map is not of interest, it is available to make it fully transparent. If orthomosaic is presented in the project it will be overlaid over the 3D DEM by default.

As DEM and Orthomosaic building require less time then building Mesh or Tiled Model, this is a great option to start analyzing the project much faster.

In order to access this feature please republish your projects.

Hello,

New feature allowing importing .geojson vector layers has been released.

Currently only POINT, LINESTRING and POLYGON .geojson features are supported. In case there are features: POSITION, MULTYPOINT, MULTYLINESTRING and MULTYPOLYGON in the .geojson file, those features will be uploaded into the cloud but not rendered in a 3D scene. When downloading a vector layer as a .geojson file, those features will be saved.
In case your .geojson contains 2D geometries, it may take a while to upload and process the file because height values need to be sampled from terrain in order to display features properly.

Hello everyone,

Today we have one more feature to present - Measurement reports.

From now on you can not only measure & annotate your projects, but also report the job done with a PDF file.

Measurements report can be generated for any vector layer in the project and it contains detailed information about every geometry in a layer, including its color, name and measured properties. For every geometry type a summary information on geometries quantity, and their measured properties sum or mean value is presented in the report.

Reports can be accessed by both the owner of the project and those with whom it is shared. To generate the report, select the vector layer of your interest in a Workspace pane on the left and then click on the Measurements report button in the Properties pane on the right.

Dear users,

Today we released two major features:

- Ability to add datasets and processing results from one project to another without data duplication,
- Side by side Compare tool.

With the first feature you can combine data from multiple projects in one to add more context. For example if you have two .psx projects with site scans performed at different times, you can create a new project and add required data to it in order to perform spatio-temporal analysis of changes.

With the Compare tool on the other hand you can analyze the differences between those site scans. Compare tool supports raster maps, tiled models, 3d models and point clouds.
