The overexploitation of 25 species of host plants valued for their medicinal properties has threatened the swallowtail butterflies in the forest habitats of a part of Assam.
📌Definition:
Swallowtail butterflies belong to the family Papilionidae (order Lepidoptera).
📌 Appearance:
🌟 Named for their characteristic tail-like extensions on the hindwings.
🌟However, many species are tailless.
📌 Distribution:
🌟Swallowtail butterflies (Papilio) are found globally, except in the Arctic regions.
🌟India hosts 77 out of the 573 known species of swallowtails recorded worldwide.

By December 2, the government expects about 1 lakh unemployable youth from economically weaker sections to begin their on-the-job training on factory shop floors under a pilot project of the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme in Top Companies (Scheme). The portal to match employers with interns went live on Thursday, and as many as 111 companies had already signed up and offered 1077 vacancies for interns. The portal, pminternship.mca.gov.in , will be opened up for candidates to sign up for consideration likely on Vijaya Dashmi, October 12, Ministry of Corporate Affairs sources said, and will allow youth in the age group of 21 to 24 years to apply
