Different types of Indian Mural Paintings:
Tempera Painting: Tempera painting is done by the preparation of pigment into a water-miscible medium.
Oil Painting: Oil Painting is a standard of painting in oil colours that grips suspension of pigments into drying oils.
Fresco Painting: Fresco Painting is an ancient practice that engrossed the painting of water-based pigments on recently applied plaster, usually on a wall façade.

The earliest evidence of the murals is the beautiful frescoes painted on the caves of Ajanta and Ellora, the Bagh caves, and the Sittanvasal cave.

Murals from this period depict mainly religious themes of Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu.
