The Indian Constitution and the Representation of the People Act, 1951, outline the conditions for disqualification, including acquiring citizenship of a foreign state or demonstrating allegiance to one. This rule is in place to protect national interests and prevent foreign influence on parliamentary decisions.
According to current parliamentary rules, if a member of the Lok Sabha, like Asaduddin Owaisi, demonstrates loyalty to a foreign state, they can be disqualified. This is to ensure that members of Parliament remain loyal only to India and make decisions in the best interest of the Indian public. If a member shows allegiance to a foreign state, such as Palestine, they may face disqualification.
