India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is now being used in many countries around the world.
• Peru – first country in South America to adopt UPI.
• Namibia – first in Africa to use UPI.
• France – first in Europe, and Cyprus became the second.
• Trinidad and Tobago – first in the Caribbean region.
• Qatar – third GCC country to join, after the UAE and Oman.
As of October 2025, eight countries have started using India’s UPI for merchant payments.
