Brazil, which holds the rotating presidency of the grouping in 2025, has announced the official membership of the country.
📆 Indonesia's bid to join the bloc had been approved during a summit in 2023 in Johannesburg.
Last year, the grouping expanded with 🇮🇷Iran, 🇪🇬Egypt, 🇪🇹Ethiopia and the 🇦🇪United Arab Emirates becoming full members.

🗓️ The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 9, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.
🌏 Theme: Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat.
Significance:
📅 January 9 commemorates Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa in 1915.
🎖️ Held biennially to honor the contributions of the Indian diaspora to their homeland.
Indian Diaspora:
🌍 The diaspora includes 3.5 crore Overseas Indians, categorized as:
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs): 🌐 Indian residents abroad.
Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs): 🛂 Foreign nationals of Indian origin with OCI cards.
Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs): 👥 Merged with OCI in 2015.
History and Origins:
🕰️ The idea for PBD was proposed by the High-Level Committee on Indian Diaspora (2002), led by L.M. Singhvi.
📜 First celebrated in 2003, and since 2015, the event has been held biennially.
