The Glory of Kālī
Perhaps the most striking and misunderstood of all Devīs, is the great Dark Mother; Kālī Mā, Slayer of demons and Mother to her devotees. While to the demonic and ignorant, her appearance and temperament seems frightening and dark, Dharmis and her devotees recognize her as their fierce Mother and Protectress.
The Devī Māhātmyaṁ tells of how Kālī emerged from the forehead of Durgā, to in her righteous anger and aggression slay the powerful demon Raktabīja. Her power could only be pacified when she stood on her husband, Lord Śhiva. With her weapons, Kālī slashes through all illusion and destroys all evil.
May we seek the Motherly affection of Kālī Devī and relish in her great dark and all-powerful Beauty.

स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति ||
अनुवाद: क्रोध से मोह उत्पन्न होता है और मोह से स्मृतिभ्रम; स्मृति के भ्रमित होने पर बुद्धि का नाश होता है और बुद्धि का नाश होने पर मनुष्य का पतन हो जाता है।
BG 2.63: Anger induces delusion, and delusion leads to confusion of memory; from confusion of memory comes loss of intellect, and loss of intellect leads to outright perishment.
