In a heartbreaking incident at Karnataka’s Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, conservation officials have arrested three men, identified as Konappa, Madaraju, and Nagaraju from Koppa village, for intentionally poisoning a cow carcass with pesticide.

The carcass was later consumed by a tigress and her four cubs in the Hoogyam–Meenyam forest area, resulting in the worst single-day tiger mortality in Karnataka since the inception of Project Tiger.



The Karnataka Forest Department has charged the accused under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and Karnataka Forest Act, 1969. A high-level SIT, headed by APCCF Kumar Pushkar alongside experts from NTCA and veterinary officers, is now probing the incident.
