अमूमन भारतीय राजनीति में वहीं स्त्री उच्च पदों तक पहुँची है जिसके पति-पिता-पुत्र बड़े राजनीतिज्ञ हो। पर महामहिम और वित्तमंत्री जी ने यह बैरियर तोड़ दिया।

महामहिम की पृष्ठ-भूमि तो अतिशय सरल है। बेहद पिछड़े इलाके की आदिवासी लड़की जो अपने मेहनत लग्न और संघर्ष के बूते रायसीना हिल्स तक पहुँच गई।

शायद ऐसी ही संघर्षशील लड़कियों को बारे में वाम-साहित्यकार सुंदर साहित्य रचते हैं और उनके जीवन का उद्देश्य उनके विजेता होने के बजाय उनके यौनिकता पर लाकर अंत कर देते है।

दूसरी ओर निर्मला सीतारमन JNU से पढ़कर संघर्ष के दिनों में RSS के लिए काम किया। और पहली ही जिम्मेदारी में अरुण जेटली के जूते में पैर डालना था। निर्मला ने वह काम बखूबी से किया।

लॉकडाउन के बाद से जिस तरह से पूरी दुनिया आर्थिक संकट से गुजरी । यह निर्मला का स्वैग ही था की भारतीय इकॉनमी इस दौर में भी हल्के फुलके हिचकोले खाके आगे बढ़ती रही।

ऊपर से भारत की रेवड़ी पॉलिटिक्स में इन्हें मुफ्त राशन , लाडली बहना , नटखट ननदी , भावुक भौजाई जैसी हजारों योजनाओं को भी सुचारू रूप से चलाना था।

पर निर्मला ने इसकी कभी शिकायत नहीं की। उनके बोलने का स्वैग अलग है। यह कुछ लोगों का चुभता है। पर क्या कहें दुष्यंत कुमार ने लिखा है

“ हिम्मत से सच कहो तो बुरा मानते हैं लोग
रो-रो के बात कहने की आदत नहीं रही “

आज निर्मला ताई स्वतंत्र भारत की पहली ऐसी वित्त मंत्री बन गई हैं , जिन्होंने लगभग सभी मध्यमवर्गीय सैलरीड लोगों को इनकम टैक्स से मुक्त कर दिया है।
