🇫🇷🇳🇨 France and New Caledonia (France Overseas Territory in Pacific) have struck a Historic deal to create a new “State of New Caledonia” within the French Republic.
KEY POINTS
-> New Caledonia will get its own Flag, Anthem & Nationality (alongside French citizenship), Dual Citizenship Status
-> A new Electoral body and Local Congress
-> France will support New Caledonia’s Economy, especially the crucial Nickel Sector
-> New Caledonia would gain Greater control over key areas such as Justice, Defense and Diplomacy and the right to seek International Recognition (like establishing its own Embassy) though would need to address France interests
The Deal will come to Force if it's ratified by the French Parliament and it passes a Referendum Vote in New Caledonia in February 2026.
