⚡️Why in news- Water levels at Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe dropped dramatically because of the latest El Nino drought in 2024.
The country's president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has declared a national disaster.

1. It is the world’s largest man-made lake and reservoir by volume.
2. It lies along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
3. It is 200 kilometers downstream of Victoria Falls.
4. The lake was filled following the completion of the Kariba Dam wall at its northeastern end, flooding the Kariba Gorge on the Zambezi River.s

Madurai: Madras high court on Monday directed the local bodies in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram districts to file an action .

✅ If an industry is granted 'Infrastructure Status', it can avail the following benefits:
1. Access to loans at easier terms, enhanced limits
2.Access to larger amount of funds as External Commercial Borrowing (ECB)
3. Access to longer tenor funds from insurance firms and pension funds
4. Eligible to borrow from India Infrastructure Financing Company Ltd. (IIFCL) a Govt. company.
Government is considering granting a long standing demand from maritime industry (ship building) - infrastructure status in the coming budget.
