PM Modi becomes 1st Indian PM to visit Guyana in 56 years

PM Narendra Modi became the first Indian prime minister in 56 years to visit Guyana, receiving a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour in Georgetown. Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali personally greeted him at the airport with a floral bouquet. Modi will hold bilateral talks and co-chair the second India-CARICOM meeting, aimed at strengthening regional economic cooperation and integration.

Guyana will confer its highest national award, “The Order of Excellence” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Barbados will confer the prestigious Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados. Dominica had also announced its top award for PM Modi a few days back. The number of international honours for PM Modi reached 19.
