🌟Zimbabwe and Namibia have announced plans to cull hundreds of elephants due to severe drought and food shortages.

2. https://www.google.com/amp/s/timesofindia.indiatimes.com/travel/travel-news/namibia-to-cull-700-animals-including-elephants-and-zebras-to-serve-its-population-amid-severe-drought/amp_articleshow/112987751.cms

🌟Zimbabwe plans to cull 200 elephants, targeting regions with high human-elephant conflicts like Hwange National Park.

🌟Namibia has already culled 160 wildlife animals, including 83 elephants, as part of a planned reduction exceeding 700.

🌟Both countries have elephant populations exceeding their ecological carrying capacity.

Pros:
⚑Culling could help manage overpopulation and reduce human-elephant conflicts.

Meat from culled elephants could be used to aid food-insecure communities.

Unchecked elephant populations can severely damage ecosystems and affect other species.

Cons:

⚑Culling is controversial and could harm tourism industries that rely on elephants as a major attraction.

Critics argue for more sustainable wildlife management practices that prioritize living elephants.

Culling entire herds can cause post-traumatic stress for surviving animals.

πŸ’€Past culling operations in Zimbabwe killed over 50,000 elephants between 1965-1988.

:-) Culling is often a short-term solution, and translocation or birth control may be preferable long-term options.

Someone needs to tell this lady that everyone with even the slightest bit of sense and more than two braincells knows reservations are a band-aid "fix", and definitely not a sustainable one for any nation. We know it, Politicians know it, but caste politics is their golden ticket to easy votes, far more convenient than focusing on actual development and progress. From the very start, reservations have been the lazy shortcut for politiciansβ€”an easy way out rather than doing the real, hard work of addressing systemic issues.

If you're serious about uplifting marginalized communities, then the answer lies in providing accessible, affordable education and skill development programs from the start, not in handing out reserved seats in universities or jobs. Reservations might have a place early on to help level the playing field, but by the time you’re at graduation or employment, they become completely unjustifiable. Giving quotas at the end just undermines the very idea of equality and merit. Start strong, build capacity early, and you won’t need to artificially level the field at the finish line. Only by doing this, can the "marginalised" and the nation truly prosper.

Q. With reference to agricultural practices in India, consider the following statements:

1. Zero tillage helps in reducing soil erosion and conserves moisture, but it increases methane emissions from soil.

2. Agroforestry is classified under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) as a major component for improving irrigation efficiency.

3. System of Rice Intensification (SRI) requires lower seed usage and promotes higher yields but is unsuitable for saline soils.

Delhi CM Kejriwal offers to resign after 2 days.

I think the Supreme Court's bail conditions really did a number on him. With all those restrictions, he was practically stripped of his position as Chief Minister.

Is he hoping to ride a sympathy wave in the upcoming Haryana elections?

Or like everything else, another drama?
