GCCs projected to create up to 28 lakh jobs in India by 2030

⭐ Touted as the ‘GCC Capital of the World,’ India has the largest base of 17 per cent of global technology capability centres, currently employing over 1.9 million (19 lakh) people, according to a new report.

⭐ By 2030, the GCC market in India is estimated to grow to $99-105 billion, with the number of GCCs reaching 2,100-2,200 and headcount rising to 2.5-2.8 million (25 lakh-28 lakh).

Global Capability Centers:

GCCs are offshore units or subsidiaries of multinational companies that provide a wide range of support services such as IT, finance, HR, analytics, research, and development.

These centers play a strategic role in improving efficiencies and reducing costs for global firms by leveraging the skills, talent, and technological infrastructure available in countries like India.

High ranking cities in Swachhata ranking to now compete in new category ‘Golden Cities Club’

⭐ After getting the cleanest city tag seven consecutive times, Indore and some other traditionally high performing cities such as Surat and Navi Mumbai, won’t be allowed to compete with other cities in the annual Swachhta ranking.

⭐ The top rank holders for consecutive three years will be put in Golden Cities Club category and they will work out a matrix based on the past three years’ trends.

⭐ Once any city in the Golden Cities Club performs poorly, it will be taken out from the list and it will end up competing with the large number of cities in the Swachh Survekshan.

My argument is that just like Indore is no longer to be considered in competition for ‘cleanest cities’ (bcoz it continuously gets first rank)

On the same logic, UPSC should prohibit the past toppers from reappearing in the exam to upgrade their service from IPS/IRS/IIS etc to IAS.

Otherwise, they are just grabbing the seats and unemployed people are sitting at home. Because UPSC is not always operating the buffer list in efficient manner.

Support Measures: States are encouraged to conduct feasibility studies, identify suitable locations, and provide land and capital support for shipyards, along with subsidies for MSMEs.
