Nepal Parliament approves ratification for Framework Agreement related to International Solar Alliance (ISA).

✅ The House of Representatives has passed a proposal to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which will help increase the use of solar power in the country and combat the impacts of climate change.
✅ The ISA was conceived as a joint effort by India and France to mobilise efforts against climate change through the deployment of solar energy solutions and announced on the sidelines of the 21st COP21 to the UNFCCC at Paris in 2015.

CII's Report on FDI
✅ A report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the High Commission of India in the UK reveals that Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Delhi are the top 3 states in India for foreign direct investment (FDI) into the UK.
✅ In 2023, Maharashtra accounted for 20% of FDI, followed by Karnataka (12%) and Delhi (8.6%).
✅ The top 10 states, which also include Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, make up 78% of total FDI from India into the UK.

Bangladesh to Import Hydro-Electricity from Bhutan
✅ Bangladesh Prime Minister and her Bhutanese counterpart met in New Delhi during the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
✅ Bangladesh and Bhutan are keen to enhance their relations, especially in the energy sector.
✅ Bangladesh wants to import hydroelectricity from Bhutan through India and the matter has been discussed with India.
✅ This requires a tripartite agreement between the three countries. Both countries also expressed their interest in strengthening their ties in other areas as well.

Bhutan has a special place in the hearts of all Bangladeshis as it had first recognized Bangladesh as an independent nation after the 1971 Liberation War, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) 2024.
✅ It uses 58 performance indicators across 11 issue categories to rank 180 countries on climate change performance, environmental health, and ecosystem vitality.
✅ Key Highlights:
👉 Estonia secured the top position, while Vietnam secured bottom.

🌳 India ranked 176th rank, highlighting serious environmental challenges. While India showed some progress in climate change mitigation, it scored poorly in air quality and sanitation.

👉 The EPI highlights the challenge of "paper parks," protected areas on paper that are not effectively managed for conservation, posing a threat to international biodiversity commitments.
👉 Oman made a significant jump to 50th position globally, up from 149th in 2022, due to increased biodiversity sites and conservation efforts.
