In Sep. 2025 CJI, B.R. Gavai dismissed petition in Supreme Court seeking restoration of the 7-foot-long headless Murti of Lord Vishnu at the Javari Temple in Khajuraho. It wasn't just his dismissal, but the remarks that B.R. Gavai made, he mockingly said "Go and ask the deity itself to do something now. You say you are a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu - so go and pray."

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has FOUND the missing head of the 11th-century Lord Vishnu idol from the Javari Temple and plans to reattach it following a detailed expert examination. It had been lying in an ASI store all along.
