Fans paid a hefty price just to catch a glimpse of their hero. Messi tried to move toward the stands to acknowledge them, but a politician grabbed his hand and pulled him toward his family for photos. Soon, politicians and their families surrounded him, security lost control of the situation, and the event was ultimately cancelled. In front of nearly 80,000 fans, Messi had to leave the stadium. What kind of message are we really sending to the world?
