- Opens into the Arabian Sea, directly affecting maritime boundaries and fishing zones.

- Narrow, muddy, and shifting water channel, prone to tidal changes.
- Part of the Indus Delta wetlands, habitat for migratory birds and marine biodiversity.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad officially designated it as the national song in the Constituent Assembly on January 24, 1950, stating it would hold equal status with the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
