Geet Gawain is a traditional Bhojpuri musical ensemble that embodies the rich cultural heritage brought to Mauritius by women from the Bhojpuri belt of India. In recognition of its cultural significance, Geet Gawai was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2016.

A girl shared her heartbreaking story of gender discrimination at home. While her brothers had full freedom to study, she was given a condition—only if she scored 400+ marks could she take science. Despite scoring 399, she was denied her choice and had to study arts instead. This highlights the deep-rooted bias against girls' education in many families, where even a single mark becomes an excuse to limit their dreams.
