π Theme: Diasporaβs Contribution to a Viksit Bharat.
Significance:
π January 9 commemorates Mahatma Gandhiβs return to India from South Africa in 1915.
ποΈ Held biennially to honor the contributions of the Indian diaspora to their homeland.

π The diaspora includes 3.5 crore Overseas Indians, categorized as:
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs): π Indian residents abroad.
Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs): π Foreign nationals of Indian origin with OCI cards.
Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs): π₯ Merged with OCI in 2015.
History and Origins:
