📌why in news : shock diamonds, also known as Mach diamonds, have been in the news recently. These are bright, diamond-shaped patterns that appear in the exhaust plume of a rocket or jet engine operating at supersonic speeds.
They form due to the interaction between the exhaust gases and the surrounding atmosphere, creating alternating regions of high and low pressure.
