PM Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria gifted a Silofar Panchamrit Kalash from Maharashtra's Kolhapur to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is an intricately designed Kalash made from high-quality silver and features engravings displaying Kolhapur's famous metalwork. It is embellished with floral patterns and its handle and lid are crafted in a way to facilitate religious ceremonies.

Why in the news: The critically endangered Red-Headed Vulture has been sighted in Kasaragod, marking a significant addition to the region’s avian biodiversity.
✔️ The Red-Headed Vulture is one of the nine vulture species found in India.
✔️It is also commonly known as the Asian King Vulture or pondicherry vulture
✔️The Red-Headed Vulture (Sarcogyps calvus) is listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List, primarily due to habitat loss, poisoning, and decline in food sources.
✔️ Wildlife Protection Act, 1972:It is listed under Schedule I of the act, which provides it with the highest level of legal protection
✔️This vulture species plays a crucial ecological role as a scavenger, helping maintain the balance in ecosystems by contributing to the removal of carrion.

⚡️Breaking - Mr K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Education, has been appointed as the next Comptroller and Auditor General of India. He is highly respected officer. His appointment as the new #CAG is a testament to his distinguished career in public service.
He is currently serving as the secretary of the higher education department in the Union ministry of education. Murthy is a 1989 batch IAS officer belonging to the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
Murthy will replace Girish Chandra Murmu, who was appointed as the CAG in August 2020. Murmu was previously the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir following the formation of the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
