Scientists have discovered a new virus in China called the Wetland Virus, which is carried by ticks. It has potential effects on human health because it can lead to serious neurological complications.

🦠 Origin: Recently discovered in wetlands (marshes, swamps, etc.), which are rich in biodiversity and crucial for ecological balance.

🦠 Type: Believed to be a RNA virus, similar to other viruses transmitted through vectors like mosquitoes. It Shares characteristics with arboviruses, which are typically transmitted by arthropods.

🦠 Transmission: Likely spread by wetland-specific vectors, such as mosquitoes, ticks and migratory birds, raising concerns about its zoonotic potential.

🦠 Zoonotic Risk: The virus may jump from animals to humans, particularly in communities living near wetlands, posing a public health risk.

🦠 Symptoms: Initial symptoms include fever, headache, and fatigue. Severe cases could lead to neurological complications.

Government renames Port Blair as "Sri Vijaya Puram"

Union home minister Amit Shah announced that Andaman and Nicobar Island's capital Port Blair has been renamed as "Sri Vijaya Puram."
