Combination of βSiddhaβ Drugs Reduces Anemia in Adolescent Girls: Study
π Published in the reputed Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge (IJTK) by researchers conducting the PHI-Public Health Initiative claims the drug reduces anaemia among adolescent girls.
π The researchers found that ABMN (AαΉαΉapΔticentΕ«ram, BΔvaαΉa kaαΉukkΔy, MΔtuαΈ·ai maαΉappΔku and NellikkΔy lΔkiyam), a combination of Siddha drug treatment can improve the level of Haemoglobin as well as PCV-Packed cell volume, MCV-Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin and MCH-Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin in the anaemic adolescent girls.
π The study noted that the presence of clinical features like breathlessness, fatigue, giddiness, headache, anorexia, and pallor was evaluated by the investigators before and after completion of the programme, along with Hemoglobin evaluation and biochemical estimations.

How we discovered a new type of wood - and how it could help fight climate change
https://theconversation.com/how-we-discovered-a-new-type-of-wood-and-how-it-could-help-fight-climate-change-236618
Midwood Classification:
A new wood type called "midwood" was identified, which has macrofibrils between those of hardwoods and softwoods.
Carbon Sequestration:
Tulip trees (Liriodendron tulipifera) can store two to six times more carbon than other species, enhancing their role in climate change mitigation.
Climate Change Implications:
Planting tulip trees could significantly aid carbon capture efforts, making them valuable for environmental conservation.
Research Techniques:
Advanced imaging methods (cryo-SEM) were used to study the wood's structure and its evolutionary adaptations.

π½ Cultivating maize on drained peatlands for biomethane production emits three times more COβ than the emissions avoided by not using natural gas.
βπ§ͺThe carbon released from drained peatlands during cultivation outweighs the benefits of using biomethane as a renewable energy source.
ππͺ«The growing proportion of drained peat soils dedicated to bioenergy rather than food production is a concern.
π₯First-generation biofuels can reduce GHG emissions by 20-60%,while
πΊsecond-generation biofuels can achieve reductions of 70-90%,
excluding land-use change effects. However, some biofuels may emit more GHGs than fossil fuels due to the energy-intensive processes involved.
