A shy, big-footed, terrestrial bird endemic to the Nicobar group of islands, known to incubate its eggs in a mound of soil and leaf litter, was declared the election mascot named MEGHA for the Nicobar Lok Sabha elections: the Nicobar megapode.

✍🏻For the first time, members of the Shompen, one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in the country and who reside in the dense tropical rain forests of the Great Nicobar island, took part in the election process by casting their votes in the Andaman and Nicobar Lok Sabha constituency.

✍🏻Other two primitive tribes like Onge and Great Andamanese too exercised their voting rights like in 2019 Lok Sabha election but seven Shompen did it for the first time.

Chandrayaan-3 mission has provided crucial data that supports the "lunar magma ocean" theory.

The Pragyan rover's revealed that the Moon's south polar region contains a significant amount of ferroan anorthosite, a type of rock that forms when a magma ocean cools & solidifies.
This discovery bolsters the idea that, in its early history, the Moon was covered by a global ocean of molten rock.

Terms

1. FAN (Ferroan Anorthosite)
Definition: A type of lunar rock composed primarily of plagioclase feldspar with a significant amount of iron and titanium.

2. Mafic Material
Definition: Rocks rich in magnesium (Mg) and iron (Fe).
Examples: Basalt and gabbro are common mafic rocks.


3. Lunar Magma Ocean Crystallization
Definition: The process by which the molten material that once covered the Moon's surface cooled and solidified to form different types of lunar rocks.
