Right to religious freedom isn't for conversions: Allahabad High Court

Religious conversion and fundamental right under article 25

โญ The Constitution of India under Article 25 provides the right to freely profess, practice, and propagate religion. However, this right is subject to public order, morality, and health.

โญ Judicial Interpretation: The High Court interpreted this constitutional right in the context of religious conversions, stating that the right to religious freedom does not include the right to convert others.

โญ Individual Autonomy: The court emphasizes the importance of an individual's autonomy and freedom of choice in matters of religion, underscoring that conversions must be voluntary and based on genuine belief, rather than any external compulsion.

โญ Religious Propagation vs. Conversion: The court differentiates between the right to propagate oneโ€™s religion, which is protected as a fundamental right, and the act of converting others, which is regulated to ensure it is free from coercion.

Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance...

An excerpt from Jawaharlal Nehru's Tryst of Destiny speech, August 15, 1947

At the stroke of midnight when the world sleeps Bengal will awake to vandalism and destruction.

A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new -- when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, gets more suppressed.

The place where horrific rape took place at R G Kar Medical College.

Previously, it wasn't apparent, but it has now become clear, a massive cover-up is underway. Students have raised serious allegations about a drug and sex racket running within the hospital. In a bid to keep CBI from uncovering the truth, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is engaging in a riot, seemingly aimed at tearing the place apart while pointing fingers at the students.

This is an example of the state machinery failing or worse, being in cahoots with the perpetrators. And, as usual, the masters of political silence will likely stay mum instead of puting forth president's rule, just as after the post poll violence in Bengal that left hundreds slaughtered and raped.

Genus Coridius:

โญ Researchers from Bengaluru have discovered three new edible bug species.

โญ The newly discovered bugs are part of the genus Coridius and belong to the family Dinidoridae. They range in size from 15 mm to 25 mm and primarily feed on plant sap.

โญ These species belong to the edible orthopteran group, which includes grasshoppers, crickets, and locusts. Usually eaten by people from Northeast.

โญ The new species are named:

-Coridius adii
-Coridius esculentu
-Coridius insperatus

โญ This research supports the promotion of insects as a sustainable protein source, which can complement traditional livestock farming that often has significant environmental impacts.

โญ Consumption of some of the darker-coloured bugs was found to have a neurotoxic effect, with the affected people becoming photophobic.

People calling this case a NIRBHAYA 2.0 , kya ye sahi h?

Giving it numbers, does it mean we'll wait for there to be more additions to the series?

Har case different hota h
Kolkata case might share similarities in terms of the crime being a sexual assault,
But
It might not be identical in terms of the brutality, circumstances.

labeling it as "Nirbhaya 2.0" could overshadow its different context, brutality and the specifics of how it has been handled by society, the media, and the legal system.

Calling the Kolkata case "Nirbhaya 2.0" could inadvertently suggest that only cases of extreme brutality deserve attention, which might undermine the importance of addressing all forms of sexual violence with equal seriousness.
