β On 10 June, 2024 India wholeheartedly welcomed Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia joining the BRICS as their representatives attended for the first time a key meeting of the grouping hosted by Russia.
β Senior diplomat Dammu Ravi led the Indian delegation at the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, in western Russia.

ISRO Releases Stunning Images of Sun Captured By Aditya L1 during a major geomagnetic storm in May,2024.
β The two remote sensing payloads, namely the Solar UltraViolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) and the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), along with other payloads, captured these images from the Lagrange point in space.
β The images released by ISRO clearly show magnetically active regions with large solar flares on the Sunβs surface. The solar emissions depict the relative brightness of sunspots, umbra, penumbra, and plages.

βοΈ On 7 June 2024, The Survey on Household Consumption Expenditure released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
Key Findings:-
βοΈ The average monthly per capita consumption expenditure (MPCE) in rural sector has risen more sharply by 40%, while the MPCE in urban sector has risen 33%
βοΈTable: Average Monthly Spending per Person (in 2011-12 prices)
βοΈ People in rural areas are spending more money, and this spending is growing faster than in urban areas.
βοΈ While city dwellers still spend more, the difference between rural and urban spending is shrinking.
βοΈThe difference between the urban and rural MPCE has fallen from 84 percent in 2011-12 to 75 percent in 2022-23, the survey on Household Consumption Expenditure: 2022-23 showed.

β Top 5 Countries: Iceland (1st) was followed by Finland (2nd), Norway (3rd), New Zealand (4th) and Sweden (5th)π.
β Globally, Sudan was ranked last on the index of 146 countries.
β India has slipped two places to the 129th position (127th last year).
β Within South Asia, India ranked 5th after Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan, with Pakistan ranked last (145th).
β Despite the drop, India showed strong gender parity in secondary education enrollment and political empowerment, securing the 10th position for the number of years with female/male π©βπΌπ¨βπΌ heads of state in the last 50 years.
β However, Indiaβs overall gender gap closure stands at 64.1 per cent in 2024, a slight decline from 64.2 per cent last year.
